I don't think the pick of McNichols was necessarily with the thought of replacing Martin, but rather Quiz and/or Sims, and if just happened to be more than that, so be it, bonus for them. Or possibly, if they did get rid of Martin, Quiz/Sims might take the lead, McNichols would assume their old roles.

Anyways, all of that is to say, i don't think drafting him has a whole lot to say about whether they'd trade for Shady

The only reason they would possibly be trying to trade for Shady would be that they were going for the gold this year.

They are not ready for that yet, and giving up long term potentials for a short term Shady would be a grave mistake, imo.
