Unless he decides to follow in the footsteps of one of his heroes, Brett FavreWell, that kind of, sort of, closes the book .....
Saga Over: Tony Romo decides to retire
Tony Romo will retire after 13 seasons in the NFL.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dallas plans to release Romo on Tuesday, but the quarterback is still choosing to pursue a career in broadcasting instead of continuing his career on the field. That is at least for now, with NFL Network's Jane Slater reporting he would "consider" a return if the Cowboys needed him and Pro Football Talk speculating any contract he signs with a media company will include the option to return to the field.
Never mind, bad info. Cap hit is the same a player is cut or retires. Weird, I don't understand why that works that way. You've obviously got to replace the player, why the double whammy on the cap?Really surprised they released him as opposed too putting him on the retired list. They would've saved about ten million in cap space had they listed him retired. Something is fishy, Romo is gonna sign somewhere...

Yeah, I get it, yet it still seems silly. Cutting someone yes, absolutely, but a retirement is the player's choice, they're choosing to walk away from the contract, he and the team together agreed to push it down the road..i just don't like the reasoning. It is what it is though, oh wellWell because the team owes the player the money per the contract they gave him. They owe if they cut him, they owe it if he retires, it's money they pushed down the road and the bill is due. The replacement most likely someone really cheap.
I think teams will try to throw money at him now that he has been released...Really surprised they released him as opposed too putting him on the retired list. They would've saved about ten million in cap space had they listed him retired. Something is fishy, Romo is gonna sign somewhere...
I would imagine Houston calls his agent every 5 minutes.. maybe Denver and a couple others tooI think teams will try to throw money at him now that he has been released...
That's not happening since Romo is not a long-term solution.Outside of that maybe the Bears.
Same here, at least there's something to hold onto other than blind hope in Cleveland... If they can find a QB, the offense has plenty of playmakers, and a decent line nowJets, Broncos and Texans. Outside of that maybe the Bears. Browns could use him but they are focused on the future completely.
Side note: I am digging their new FO. I just hope they draft well

I'm convinced that FO has their shit together more than most teams. Wish I could swap em with the skins FO.
you literally could swap any teams FO with the skins, worst in the league by far IMHOI'm convinced that FO has their shit together more than most teams. Wish I could swap em with the skins FO.
u want crowell to do good lolYou can add me to those who like what they have been doing. Course at the end it really comes down to being successful in the draft, especially at the QB position. I'm rooting for them.

Sure, but besides that I like the way they stock piled picks and built up the OL and look to improve the DL. Seems like a good plan.
