Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy bacon
Damn it...Before the Suter/Parise signing, the Wild were 200-to-1 to win the Stanley Cup. Now, they're 20-to-1.
Random factoid relating to free agency I looked up this morning...
None of the teams that have won the Cup in the last 3 years have been among the five highest paid rosters in the league (Kings #7, Bruins #7, and Hawks #13). BUT all of those rosters of Cup-winning teams have been within a million dollars of the cap.
So, we should keep our eyes out for who the 7th highest paid roster is this year.

With all the money Detroit has left, we may very well be 7th, 17th or 27th.
We have a minute munching defenceman, great skater, and he never misses a game and you can have for the small price of Valteri Filppula...
We're not looking for a defenceman. We're looking for a defenseman!

I dunno, they can only afford like 37 more skaters at that price. Getting dicey for the Pens.
Since the media is always so spot on in calling the Cup Finals this early, would it be better to put my money on Minny or Edmonton-y out of the West? I mean, someone has to play the Isles, right?
Minnesota, actually. They WERE number one in the league for an awful long time last year. Still not sure why they crashed and burned - my theory is that the unusually warm winter we had made them think that they had started the season too early.
