I'm not knocking him as a player by any means. Given the choice, yes I'd rather have Datsyuk. However in terms of forechecking and backchecking Parise is right on par with him or anybody else for that matter.

im not trying to be a dick but how often do you hear Parise getting praise for his defense compared to Datsyuk, Ryan Kesler or Patrice Bergeron.

Those three are clearly the best in the league at the two way game and Jordan Staal is a close 4th.

BTW if you knew someone would say what I said you must have known that what you said was a litle far fetched.

I really hope Parise signs with the Wild, the NW division (aside from the Canucks) has become a joke, it needs to become relevant again.

I don't think anyone is on par with a healthy Datsyuk in terms of backchecking.

But Parise is certainly on that next level.

this I would agree with...Parise is on a higher level than most but he isnt on the same level as Datsyuk.

I really hope Parise signs with the Wild, the NW division (aside from the Canucks) has become a joke, it needs to become relevant again.

It would be nice to see him in a Wild sweater however I can never wish success for Setodouchie

He hasn't spoken to his fiance in like 18 hours? He told the world he was going to go talk to her, and he still hasn't?

The reason Parise doesn't get mentioned is because everyone on the Devils backcheck like fiends. So it's not as noticeable when he has a takeaway because another Devil had a takeaway the shift before. After a while it all becomes one big blur.

I knew it was coming because realistically, in my mind, the best defensive forward should go to a player on the Devils just about every year. I know that sounds like a Devils homer thing to say, but as a team they backcheck pretty much better than anybody, and Parise is the best on the Devils at doing that.

Put Patrik Elias on a more offensive team and he's in Selke talks every season. In terms of best defensive forward, John Madden should have been to the Selke what Lidstrom was to the Norris. Bottom line, I'm not knocking Datsyuk or any other player for that matter, but I think the Devils constantly get overlooked on these types of the things.

As a married man for nearly 17 years, the only advice I can give Zach is make sure to use the right head when making this decision...
