huh. I figured someone would overpay (and over-term) Salvador after his playoff performance (terrific play over a small sample size), but you wouldn't think it would be the team that has seen what his average level of play has been over a longer period of time. hope that english makes sense.

basically, he got a lofty over-age 3 year deal based on a really good three week period.

Not entirely true. With the cap increase the contract isn't as bad as it initially looks. His play will decline in the coming years but he has been our most consistent defender for years. On the PK, defending a lead late in a game, there is nobody I want out there more. Plus his leadership and physical play are needed on a team that doesn't have much of either. Devils D will be stacked next year if they remain healthy.

To be fair, he was playing with an abdominal injury that required surgery. Still, it was time to move on from Olli and I wish him well in Winnipeg.
