Carolina and Detroit are in a strong competition with New York Rangers for Rick Nash. Nothing imminent. Canes said to be pushing hard.

Planning back up moves?

I gotta jet. Hopefully I'll come back and see some good news later tonight. Good luck to all your teams (except the Atlantic Division ones not from Philadelphia).

Habs have been busy. I did not pay much attention because they were supposed to be quiet. I do not know much about Prust but I like the Armstrong and Boullion deals. I loved Boullion the first time he was a Hab - very underrated.

Roughly 20 million per was tied amongst three centers. Why do you think they could only surround one center with top six wingers?

Yes, but losing Staal changes that the least. The biggest issue isn't $20 million in 3, it's $16 million+ in 2. And if they don't, they are one year away from it. And I HATE hearing - its all money wrapped up in centers. Well, isn't center the most important role on offensive lines? That's what I've been told is one of the keys to the Pens success. So you can't say, hey this is key, and then also, but we have too much tied up in it. MOST top teams have $20ish mil dropped into 3-4 top guys. It's not unusual. Those AREN'T bad contracts - Kunitz making almost $4mil is a joke. Paul Martin and MAF at $5 mil are overpaid. $20 million in Crosby, Staal, and Malkin was not an issue. $14 million in Kunitz, Martin, and MAF is!

Anyway, get jazzed about Parise. It kills me to say this, but Alex Semin will probably be a MUCH better deal for whoever signs him.

So you think he's worth his weight in gold, eh?

@eloklund... My sources tell me Ponikarovsky is close to inking a 4-year $11.6 million deal with the Blues. Poni saying multiple years are essential to signing.

@eloklund - One very reliable source telling me that Parros will be a New York Ranger next season.

ELoco, I think the heat/pens hate may be clouding your judgment on this one. Hopefully Ray makes this deal with Parise and we can see what happens. I'm willing to see how the experiment works out.

Let's put it this way: if the Pens are priced out of the Suter race, how else would you have them spend their cap space? I dunno...I want Parise for completely selfish reasons.
