Cole Hamels is currently our best starting pitcher. Our closest pursuer is the Astros. Cole beating the Astros is twice as valuable as Cole beating the As. Cole Hamels should be facing the Astros on Friday night. Winning that game is more important than having him available for game 162. We know game 153 matters. Game 162 may not mean a thing. Don't agree with Hamels going tomorrow.
That leaves Gallardo, a funked up Holland, and a struggling Perez to face the Astros. Don't like it.
Your best pitcher is going to go 3 times versus 2. Texas has a comfortable lead over Houston but let's not forget that they're not the only team we necessarily have to worry about. If Texas somehow fucks it up big time then there's still the Angels who are playing well which has been surprising to me given I that I thought their catastrophic moment of the season would have been the game Houston came back that one game in the 9th inning in Anaheim.
All that said I know Houston is just dying to get this series started with Texas for some revenge but we just have their number...we do well against them and all we need is 1 out of 3 but as Romeo stated earlier we could very well get 2 and all but ice the division.
Game 162 may not mean a thing but what if it really goes down to 162...you want your best of the best out there and ready regardless.
