NFL arbitrator Harold Henderson has upheld Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension.

However, Elliott is still expected to play Sunday night against the Giants. Since the suspension appeal process wasn't finalized before 4 PM ET on Tuesday, the six-game ban is expected to be delayed until next week. The NFL allegedly admitted as much in court on Tuesday. This thing is far from over, and an intense legal battle between the NFL and NFLPA is just beginning. But it sounds like we could get a week of Elliott followed by seven weeks of him off the field.

So doesn't that mean he misses the Redskins game

IF they let him play this week then enforce the suspension, indeed it does. But something tells me the NFLPA is going to use the week to try and push the injunction against the NFL and get the whole thing wiped out. Or they will at least try and drag it til late in the season.

They can try all they want. They have no standing and precedent has been set.

I dont know dude. I dont think the plan is to get out of the suspension at this point. While it would be nice, I think the real goal is to drag it out as long as possible to allow him to play this year. If Dallas is say, 8-2 and he has to serve the suspension over the last six games, does it really hurt him or the team aside from him losing the six game checks??

Or they start off 0-2, then he serves six games, comes back out of football shape, and not sharp with no prayer at recovery.

I think the Cinderella Cowboys of last season will be quite a bit more shaky this season.

I'm not sure why you've included the NFLPA in this, beyond the fact that they made it possible for the games to continue 7 years ago. Granted they voted to give Goodell seemingly unlimited power, (Steelers were the one team that voted "NO") but the choices were concede or don't play. 2021 is going to get real interesting because there will be little or no concessions from the NFLPA especially if current Executive director D. M. Smith is replaced by this guy.

Maybe. But as always happens, the players cave in the NFL. Their careers on average are just too short to miss a season of earnings. Plus the owners have shown the willingness and capability to field replacement teams that gave people football. They can talk big, but the owner's pockets are a hell of a lot deeper than that 3rd year pro journeyman OL who may only have 1 or 2 seasons left.

Yep the owners can out last the players. You also hear time and again how many players are broke after a couple of years in retirement. They have bills to pay.

Yup. And for many, their bills are greater than their earnings. If the NFLPA ever wants to really play hardball, they have got to get their members ready. And for the vast majority of players, they aren't ready for a prolonged holdout.

hopefully the 3 years they have they can work it out

if i am the union i can see cutting the commissioners power and a better appeal system

i would also push for larger rosters and no ineligibles

i am thinking 60 man roster 10 man PS and a recallable IR meaning if they get well before the year is up they can be recalled
