Honestly, that's always my biggest concern about changing the number of games or tinkering with rules in some way. I can't wait until someone tells us how good a RB was because he rushed for 1,000 yards (or 59/game).
My second biggest concern is the fairness of the schedules teams will play. If week 17 is vs KC for one team and Jax for another, that's significant
I believe that it is going to be somewhat similar to how they do other games.
The NFL North for instance will have the AFC North. And the order you finished last year determines who gets who. 1st gets 1st, 2nd gets 2nd and so on.
There will be some unbalance of course....but if you want an easier schedule, you can always finish 3-14 (weird) the previous year. That is the plan the Detroit Lions are taking.
The next 500 team in the league will be 8-8-1. So weird.
