I know its probably not a popular idea, but why not add 2 teams so there are 8 divisions of 4 with 16 in each conference. I know there a couple of cities who want an NHL team.

might be an ok idea but problem is there are really 2 to 3 or 4 teams right now in the NHL that are canidates to relocate as well.

Those teams being...

Hurricanes
Panthers
Predators
Coyotes.

And to realign now means once these teams move realignment again.

honestly i think the nhl would be better off contracting the coytoes and the panthers and then relocating the predators and hurricanes to a western city like seattle and maybe portland and then redoing the divisions based on those moves.

Hurricanes won't move neither will the Preds. I dont think Florida will be leaving too soon either. Realistically I feel you need 3 new cities, off the top of my head ive got Portland, Seattle, Hamilton, Somewhere in Wisconsin, I think Quebec City wants a team back. I don't know any arena situations in each of those places.

Quebec just built or is building a new arena for a team so they are a strong relocation canidate. Seattle is building a new arena now in hopes of an nba team. Portland i'm not sure aobut.

Honeslty the preds are in trouble, there was a reason they wanted to sell to basile and of course he wanted to move them to hamilton.

The Panthers are also a team that constantly loses money

the coyotes are owned by the NHL and no one wants the team if they have to keep them in pheonix. The hurricanes also are struggling with attendance etc in carolina.

Therefore I would seriously get rid of coyotes and any one of the other 3. Move one team to Seattle in the new arena they are building.

If u must move one back to quebec ok i can live with that. Another option is Kansas City which is also building a new arena in attempt to lure another sports franchise to the city.

The Bradley Center in Milwaukee holds 17,600 for hockey games. That seems like a suitable number for an NHL team.

Quebec already has a team with Montreal. The Pac NW would be a great spot for a hockey team and Portland is a good market. The only problem is the likely owner would be Paul Allen and he is off the wall sometime with his business decisions.

It's a history thing and it would reach a great rivalry with the habs. Not to mention Quebec has a lit of loyal fans who are more then deserving of getting there team back the nordique nation was very impressive when they made their new jersey visit.hell I would rather see the whale return to the nhl then a team in Oregon but I've been a hockey fan for a very long time

Quebec, Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, Hamilton, and Milwaukee are all very viable locations for hockey. Florida and Phoenix should both be moved, as well as the New York Islanders, so a couple of those cities mights see hockey soon.

Neither the Hurricanes nor the Predators should be moved.

Islanders won't be moved they are a historic franchise. Are they even talking about moving that team? The Southern teams with the exception of Nashville should probably relocate. I never did see those hot southern states embracing hockey much. Especially Phoenix.

Tampa and Carolina can stay. The Islanders have been really struggling financially for a while now.

So you think Tampa should move?
