i guess the memory of getting your shit pushed in by byu and ole miss doesn't quite fade as fast when texas's big win over oklahoma might not have been that impressive after all.

Texas has been good to me in pickem's for a while now and I've got them again this week.

This is not the same Texas that lost @ BYU earlier. Brown took much needed action and it's paid huge dividends. It's what happens when a HC/CEO puts the good of the program over perrsonal friends/assistants.

OK State may win this game......but I don't think they're very good either. They don't have a QB for one thing......and their defense has feasted on poor competition. I personally think they're a fraud......but we'll find out saturday at 2:30 either way. And they could beat Texas, and STILL be a fraud......

Texas lost its best RB and offensive player.
Texas lost its best D-linemen and defensive player.

They have already overcame the #1 LB and #1 QB being lost.

The Horns are injured right now. (maybe even worse than the Ole Miss injury plagued game)

I think Vegas wants to see how they are going to respond without Gray and Whaley.

Texas would likely be favored if those 4 guys were playing.

If it wasn't for the WV game (which is turning out to be one of the bigger upsets of the season) OSU most likely would be a 10 to 14 point favorite and a top 10 team.

I don't really care about talking heads, Vegas, everyone, picking teams over Texas. That's what 3+ years of mediocrity get you.


Personally, I said at the beginning of the season that all the East Coast press and conference press picking OSU to win the conference was a little suspect. I still do. If we don't beat them, Baylor will.

yeah I never understood the OSU love from the media.....they are an average team at best. They have a LOT of holes on that roster, and QB is one of them.

They're well coached.....but they aren't going to win this conference IMO. I'd take Baylor over them all day everyday. I'd also take a healthy Texas squad over them as well.

I just don't see what's supposed to be great on that team.

I think it is actually best for Texas. They do not always play well as favorites. See: BYu, Ole Miss, ISU, and WVU
I think it is a reflection of takign to beatings from Ole Miss and BYU. The fact that TExas's 7 wins have come from teams with a 24-42 record.

Let me get this out of the way first of all.....UT is a much improved team from the early season. They are definitely one of the top 3 in the B12.

Now, for my thoughts on the OSU game. UT got beat up pretty bad against WV. Not talking about the score, but injuries. OSU is healthy. Both UT and OSU are different teams from early season. Both are 100% better. I've been watching OSU, as well as UT and BU the past few weeks. I already know OSU is going to kick OU's ass. The reality, as sad as it is, is a win against OU this season means very little. We're, at best, average. It happens. I think the OSU/UT game will be a good game, but I think OSU gets this one.

Either way, UT has earned respect back after a few crappy seasons. You have a shot at the CC as well as a BCS game, and should be elated with this. Your seniors especially, as they have yet to taste what a successful season is all about. Good luck to both teams, and give us a great game like the WV game and all NCAA fans will be happy.

furthermore, vegas sets the spread more on how the betting public will bet... not what they think will happen in the game (though these two things are usually pretty close). the goal for oddsmakers is to get about the same amount of money on each side so they take 5% of the total amount bet regardless of outcome/

Sounds oh so familiar. Nebraska only plays well when everything is in disarray and their backs are against the wall. Any inkling of success is soon to be followed by a big thud. Hence Pelini being on the hot seat.
