Still confused as to why they released him. Even if he isn't the starter, he would have been good depth and help mentor Stanley in the meantime. Was the extra cap space that important? They must be about to extend someone's contract.

Seattle should take a chance on him if the price is right.

@Oldschool739...no doubt Monroe can still play, but investing #6 overall on a OT was writing in the wall...his time was gonna be short in BAL.

Now you have to wonder if the kid is truly ready to play LT in this league...most are not.

Good point, Harbs and the other coaches are pretty confident Stanley will be ready to start come season opener...
What baffles me is why they didn't take whatever NY was offering for Monroe instead of cutting him and eating 2 mil against the cap this yr and 4 mil next...It may have something to do with comp picks but I'm a long way from expert on that stuff...
Bottom line is, Monroe has been a big disappointment and only played in like 17 games the last 3 yrs so he had to go....I really didn't think he was anything special from the get go but he did play good at times...
I hope Stanley is our next JO, but that's a tall order for sure...

Someone will take a flyer on him. Even with his injury history there's value there.

Maybe but he has gotten lazy and the weed may be the reason why....Remembering

I don't understand why the Ravens did not trade him. Even if the trade was for a low draft pick it would still be better than nothing???

1) Teams didn't want to pay him at his 6.5M base salary, this is why a trade with the Giants fell through
2) He's missed 15 of his last 32 games
3) His actual performance when he's on the field hasn't been as good as his prior performance
4) Teams knew he'd be cut via leaks from people like Schefter and Rap.

Makes sense. I guess any trade would've involved the Ravens' having to carry part of his $6.5 Million salary...cheaper just to cut him I suppose.
