Mark Stein reports that Howard has chosen Houston but the deal is not official until July 10th. I wouldn't be surprised if he changes his mind. So everyone will be holding their breath. Stein also states that Houston will now make an attempt at S&T for Josh Smith in Atlanta.

In addition, according to Stein, the Lakers may still do a S&T with Howard to improve their situation. The next couple of days could be very interesting.

Howard has to want the 5th year. If he does, LA can execute a sign and trade since LA is the only team that can offer a 5th year. If I remember all the cap rules, since LA is over the cap and the tax, they have to take back equal salary and cannot take back another player that is being S&Ted.
