Gruden seems to be a rather polarizing character - If I were an ESPN viewer, this would be fascinatingly bad news.

I knew they'd go the predictable route. Whether or not that was their first choice, though, who knows?

SportsbyBrooks:

Salutations to @Buccigross who re-upped w/ ESPN for SportsCenter duties last week.

SbB has learned Charissa Thompson is Beadle's permanent replacement on SportsNation. Thompson starts two weeks after Beadle's last show.

Gruden would fit perfectly in the TV Biz, He is a Lying, Backstabbing, Manipulative, Greedy, human being...

But my biggest problem with him is this.
He says he has a True Passion for Football.
He has turned down numerous offers to get back into Coaching.

Let me ask you guys a question. If you had a True Passion for something. Would you accept 5 Million NOT to do it, or give up that 5 Million for 3 Million and DO what you have a True Passion for?

Now I am biased, that 5 mil hurts the Bucs owner. Even so, Anyone that hires this guy will make the worst mistake of their NFL ownership lives. Luckily I think it will be the Redskins...

@USC, just because he says he has a passion for football doesn't mean he wants to coach again. Why would he give up one of the best jobs in broadcasting for the ultimate thankless grind that is coaching professional football? He already won a Super Bowl, what more does he have to prove? Now, he gets to talk football all year long and get paid bank to do so without the crazy 18 hr days and sleeping in his office again. What part of his current gig sucks?!?!?

Beadle is leaving SportsNation? To do what? And that show is going down hill now. Colins dry humor with her wacky attitude is what made that show.

Reportedly to join NBC Sports to do work for their Olympic coverage and then she's expected to join Access Hollywood and possibly the Today Show to do entertainment work. She has done numerous entertainment based shows before going to ESPN, including Access Hollywood and the Today Show already, and more people may recognize her for that type of work than the things she's done in the sports world.

Meh, I would but not necessarily with GUSTO.

Yeah, fine, I'll do her. If I have to. If it means so much to you and her. I'll have to explain to the other much hotter women I do all the time, that I am a charitable person and felt bad for Beadles.

Meet ESPN’s Newest It Girl (and Soon-to-be Host of SportsNation), Charissa Thompson | The Big Lead

Another area of sports that drives me crazy sometimes - the TV side. She is WAY too talented and too good at what she does now to be placed on that type of a show. What she does best in my opinion will never come through on that show without changes. She is by far one of the best TV hires ESPN has made as far as what she offers a TV viewer that I've seen in a while in my opinion.

It's interesting if she actually did want to leave Numbers Never Lie. For me that show really declined ever since it became more of a debate show. People like Hugh Douglas, Jemele Hill, Rob Parker and probably a few others as well really lowered the quality of it for me when they became frequent guests. The concept was a decent one at the beginning but they never really did go as deep into numbers and the analytical aspect of sports as I thought they should have but it has just gotten worse as they started tweaking it to appeal to the common fan more. Drives me nuts.
