It's an odd season. With 5 games to play, there is basically no way for us to miss the playoffs if we win at least two more games (9-7 record). And one of our games is a home contest vs. the Vikings.

If we win three more times we'll challenge for the third seed. And if we win four more times, we'll have a great shot at the 2nd seed. BTW -- We only play one more team with a winning record and that is the Colts - A team that has some of the same consistency issues we have.

Baltimore is still in fantastic position for the second wildcard even though they've basically sucked all season.

On the other hand, look at the NFC. Carolina ha a chance to be the 6th seed with an 11-5 record.

I think if we draw the Chiefs or the Colts we will be in good shape to win our first.

I have the Bengals locking up a bye win Week 16. Football outsiders has us at a 41% chance of getting the #2 seed. I also have the Jets and Dolphins squaring off in Week 17 for the final playoff spot, so there is your Week 17 Sunday Night football game for you.

I sort of expect the Steelers to fix things and beat us in Pittsburgh, we're not really in the business of fixing things under Brown/Lewis. hosting the Ravens for the last game might not be good either, especially if they have something to play for, I expect Ray Lewis to come and give them one of his blathering pep talks about how they should just die now if they accept mediocrity and how if they lose to the Bengals he's going to kill them all and ditch the evidence.

The Steelers still need to go on the road against the Ravens and the Packers. I'm assuming that Rogers will be back and fighting for a playoff spot by the time Pittsburgh makes it to Green Bay. I'm also assuming the problems they've had for most of the season haven't just gone away.

The Ravens still have to play us (in cincy), Pittsburgh (at home) and Detroit (in Detroit). I'm also assuming that their offense won't magically just become good again, but it's not out of the realm of belief as that pretty much summarizes what happened last season after their midseason collapse.
