Update predictions:
#1 Den 15-1
#2 Cin 11-5
#3 NE 11-5
#4 Indy 10-6
#5 KC 12-4
#6 Mia 10-6

#1 Sea 13-3
#2 NO 12-4
#3 Det 11-5
#4 Philly 10-6
#5 SF 11-5
#6 Chi 11-5

So much can change in a week. Ran through it again today after yesterday's madness:

Seed Change
#1 Den 14-2 --
#2 NE 13-3 +1
#3 CIN 11-5 -1
#4 Indy 9-7 --
#5 KC 11-5 --
#6 Balt 9-7 +1

#1 Sea 14-2 --
#2 Car 13-3 +6
#3 Chi 11-5 +3
#4 Phi 9-7 --
#5 SF 12-4 --
#6 NO 11-5 -4

So in one weekend I fell out of love with the Lions and in love with Carolina and also put the Ravens in the playoffs. If Washington beats SF tonight SF and NO swap.

Seems to me the Lions and Bears are allowing the Packers to hang around. Rodgers is coming back soon.

seems the BAL/PIT game coming up might decide the #6 seed, favoring BAL since they are playing at home.

I'm not sure who I want to win that game. We have to play both, but we do have the Ravens at home, so maybe it would be better if they won. Then again over the years we have fared better at Pittsburgh than at home against them, at least under ML.

Doesn't really matter as long as we can take care of our business......and if we don't this point is moot.....

Only one of a bajillion scenarios but if the season finishes as such:

Pittsburgh

L - at Baltimore
W- vs. Miami
W - vs. Cincinnati
L - at Green Bay
W - vs. Cleveland

Cincinnati

L - at San Diego
W - vs. Indianapolis
L - at Pittsburgh
W - vs. Minnesota
W - vs. Baltimore

Baltimore

W - vs. Pittsburgh
W - vs. Minnesota
L - at Detroit
W - vs. New England
L - at Cincinnati

Then the Bengals would be the 3rd seed and host the Chargers in the first round.

This specific scenario was also done under the assumption that all the AFC playoff contending teams win the remaining home games on their schedules.

It is all in a state of serious flux at the moment.

My Updated Playoff Machine Results

Seed(Prev)
#1 Den(1) 14-2
#2 CIN(3) 12-4
#3 NE(2) 12-4
#4 Indy(4) 10-6
#5 KC(5) 12-4
#6 Balt(6) 9-7

#1 Sea(1) 14-2
#2 NO(6) 12-4
#3 Chi(3) 10-6
#4 Dal(NI) 8-8
#5 Car(2) 12-4
#6 SF(5) 10-6

For whatever reason I keep switching between NO and CAR each week. I guess that gets settled soon. I have changed my mind on Balt-NE, now siding with Baltimore. I also now believe the Bengals will run the table and finish 12-4 and 8-0 at home. I have Sea defeating NO tonight.

played around with the playoff machine a bit.
since the Steelers and Ravens will start whooping ass now, we have to do one of the following to earn our way into the playoffs.

1. take 1 away from Steelers or Ravens
2. beat both Colts and Vikings

of course, if the Steelers or Ravens lose one of their other games, then we are ok.

Most scenarios I have make it look like we'll face either Baltimore or Pittsburgh in Cincy in week 1 of the playoffs. I believe that one of those teams might make it at 8-8.

I am rooting for the Dolphins to pull things out, so we can get some revenge on them at home this time. Besides, as usual, I do not like playing a division foe in the playoffs, too much familiarity and experience in our stadium.

I don't like the Dolphins chances in Pittsburgh this weekend.

yep, the last afc wild card is completely up for grabs and it wouldn't surprised me if someone gets it with just 8 or 9 wins.

unlike the NFC, where 10 wins may not be enough to keep playing in January.

Well, both the Ravens and Dolphins are 6-6, so even a loss this weekend does not mean that the Ravens get the 6th seed. Ravens still need to lose to us and to someone else and that would be fine by me. lol

I just want to root for the Dolphins to make it there.

Warm weather team, against an unfamiliar opponent, in cold weather, and a really good defense and their first playoff game for a lot of those young guys, especially Tannehill.

Interesting nugget from the playoff machine.

If the Bengals lose in Pittsburgh and win against the Vikes.

If the Ravens and Dolphins both run the table.

The Bengals week 17 game against the Ravens could either give them the second seed with the win or knock them out of the playoffs with a loss.
