Well, Ol Ed probably isn't a Dabo fan either. Watson played, and whooped Sakerlina, with a torn ACL during his freshman season.

Because he wants to further his agenda to pussifying CFB. Fucktards like this will use anything to keep the subject in the limelight.

I've seen linebackers play with a broken arm.
Players play with broken fingers regularly.

They're out there because they're competitors and want to be out there.

Of course there is a difference between broken arms/fingers and head injuries. Beathard did not have a head injury. He had a pulled muscle in his leg.

I've played with a pulled groin and it sucked, but coach let me play because I told him I could and wanted to. I was playing WR on offense and DB on defense. It got worse as the game went along and I finally got burned on a long route so I told coach I was hurting the team by being out there. But it was on me.

I think they only reason not to play is if playing could injure you more than you are or you are in too much pain

Here's CJ's dad about what happened.

If it doesn't bother his dad what his adult son does, why the hell does it bother Ed Cunningham?

He said he thought about going down on the field a confronting Ferentz. I was just surprised by his comments. I watched the game and didn't recall at one having a problem at the time.

There was a local talk show livid about it. Not saying I agree, but it's true CJ could barely move in the 2nd half. If it was any game but Beathard's last, any sane coach would have removed him.

Ferentz's response

“As a seasoned head football coach and the father of three sons who have played collegiate football, the health and safety of our student-athletes is a top priority of the Hawkeye Football program. We have a strong relationship with the medical staff and medical experts at the University of Iowa. Each player is fully evaluated, and all established protocols are followed prior to the decision to play and during the game.

"Comments made by a retiring sports broadcaster about the coaching staff subjecting a player to possible long-term health related issues because we allowed him to play in the Outback Bowl were surprising and offensive to our coaching staff, the player and his parents. We do not allow a student-athlete to play unless he is medically cleared — that is my commitment to our players and their parents.”

Kirk Ferentz calls Ed Cunningham's critiques 'surprising and offensive' to Iowa football coaches
