My take on this is that when you're a player who gets injured often and fans expect you to play what else will they think when this news happens and doesn't play back to back? I mean he seems injury prone way more then he should be. Fans expect him to play but he isn't. Not to mention he doesn't want to play back to back

It's not so much that he's not going to play back to backs as it is announcing it like that and saying he's never going to play them again.

What happens if they have a late season back to back that could effect playoff seeding? Maybe keeps them out of the play-in or gives them HCA? He still not playing both?

As a Lakers fan, I assume old ass Lebron isn't doing back to backs...but I expect that if there's playoff seeding at stake, he's likely playing both. No need to announce it.
