When Tyler Eifert left the Pro Bowl in a walking boot following an injury to his left ankle on Jan. 31, the initial diagnosis and estimates for his recovery were promising.

But in the nearly four months since, the ankle has not responded as quickly as all of the parties would have liked and The Enquirer has learned from multiple league sources that the 25-year-old tight end will undergo what was deemed a "minimal procedure" on that ankle soon.

A three month recovery is anticipated.

Tyler Eifert to have ankle surgery

He should have waited until he signed a big time extension before taking the summer off.

If we get 12 games out of him per season, we're probably lucky.

I don't like how it's being called minor and then a second later they're saying he might be out up to 4 months. That sounds like organizational spin..

It also begs the obvious question, why did he wait this long to have the surgery?

I agree.... I have a hard time understanding how a minor procedure could take 4 months to heal..... I mean, you can break your ankle and be recovered in 4 months.

Tough times. Certainly has to be concerning for the team. Not only from the injury aspect of having lost this time since the pro-bowl where the rehab wasn't going to work, but also from the more obvious standpoint that he struggles to fight off injuries.

It's just what happens with the great ones..... Think of Gronk.... Or the GOAT, Dennis Pita.

Well considering that our passing options were limited but pretty decent with Eifert and Green, it just got a lot less promising. Gonna have to win with defense first several games.

A defense without Burfict.

Burfict makes us one of the best in the NFL, but even without him for several games, I really like the talent on our defense. Especially if we get lucky and add Freeney for support and leadership. I guess that all depends on who makes it out of training camp and preseason alive.

Eifert is becoming my Votto. I don't like either one of them. Soft ass pussies.
