I think to some extent what skinz says is valid. Let's look at 2021 only

Cosmi, Bates and Cheeseman - good picks
St. Juste, Davis, Brown and Forrest - okay or less

FAs
Samuels - maybe he works out next year but this year was a bust
Jackson - at best 50/50

Leno and Flowers - good additions

Surface stuff but why is there repetitive communication issues after 15 weeks of football? Why is it that guys are "free Lancing" and not just doing your job like your coached up? Why are we not prepared to make adjustments when our opponent takes something away we do well?
Field stuff but why do we never seem to game plan defensively against TE's? Whether it's chipping a TE off the LOS or bracketing or hell, just paying attention to the TE on each play would help. Why do we frequently over pursue on miss direction plays? Why do we not run more up tempo or hurry up offense?
Point is when we lose, things stick out like a sore thumb. Like an abundance of penalties or lack of run game or a stagnant defense. So identify the issue, come up with a solution to fix it, then implement the fix. Don't just talk about and move on because you will be talking about it later in week 15.

Talent and culture ... this team has been short on both for 20+ years. Players come here and feel like they can get away with freelancing .... talent has been less than desired. They do not retain enough of the right players. The beast rots from the head down.

As far as the TE. Goedert is a monster and if Curl is in the lineup last night I think he picks off that last pass to him that he outjumped Reaves on. TE have killed us for years.

To your point Collins does overpursue.

To your point again. I would love to see more up tempo, no huddle. I would love to see a little zone read with Heinicke once he gets back. He's very capable of freezing the D the way Hurts does and RG3 did.

I could be wrong, but a few weeks ago I heard someone say we were one of the least penalized teams. Maybe that has changed.

Dont follow college football, but hamstringing your team for a few years of aaron rodgers or russell wilson is a bad idea, and watson might go to jail (or might not).

Draft a qb to start or learn for a year or two.

We were certainly short on the OLine but Flowers who I love even he did not look like himself. BU QB with 4 days practice allowed the Eagle defense to overload the box.

Collins is a good blitzer and run defender. He was out of position on several flats passes. Lucky for the WTF Goedert dropped one, it hit his foot and bounced right into a trailing Collins hand. I like what he has done lately.

I like Heinicke but I also realize he is limited which also limits the offense. I would also like to see him run some RPO stuff. The team runs up tempo at times. You can't do it with GG.

Jones is not a finished product ... he has required skills and proper coaching.

There are a lot of QBs from last year that it is too early to call.

I mentioned Collins because I felt like the coaches were getting blamed for his undisciplined play at times.

I just didn't see how that fell at the feet of JDR. So when I read you and skinz2winz talk about making adjustments, I figured you wanted JDR to pull him off the field.

Imo, yes, he's a sucker for play action but he did have a pick6 last week, he was trailing, had a fumble recovery and I still thinkn he's 2nd in TFLs.

As for QBs. It really is a flip of the coin.

Maybe however, it's Trey Lance time next season and I wouldn't expect JG to want to sit the bench for a year behind him. I believe if Lance is tapped to start which he likely will, they give Garrapolo the opportunity to seek a trade to a team to become a starter.
