Not a bad return for a guy who wouldn't have seen the field much if at all. More ammo for Chip to move up for Mariota lol ;).

Yeah. That and 8 other picks! :)

Actually, if Tampa wants Shady, Curry, Graham, Foles, plus 2 firsts, and that 4th, you never know.

Yeah, dropping all the way to # 7 or 10?

I hope he does, but would anyone want to drop way down to our #20? Nice, but don't count on it.
Either way, we'll know more after the Combine. :noidea:

If Mariota drops to our pick I will wear a Cowboys jersey at the Linc.

He's been a 1 read QB for 3 years, anyone who expects him to come in and pick apart a D is barking up the wrong tree IMO. Oregons offense, like ours, makes QBs look better than they are because they don't have to make any real reads, you couple that with a pace that makes the D keep it simple and you have the perfect recipe to get the most out of a QB with an average ability to read a D.

Funk nailed it....Don't be shocked if Mariota is not selected at the top simply because any traditional style offense will not want him running it.

Mariota isn't a great pick for every team (at least not in the top 10) ... he would be great for us because he obviously thrives in our style, but for teams who don't plan on changing their style and playbook, Mariota isn't a slam dunk of a pick. You don't draft Mariota in a traditional Offense unless you can sit him for a couple of seasons ala Aaron Rodgers ... not too many teams have that kind of time or patience anymore. If you pick a QB in the top 10 you get maybe a half season of holding that clip board.

Exactly...So if Tampa doesn't hire a coach that fits Mariota and neither do the Jets....Guess what....kid drops.

Matter of fact Tampa may say hey Chip, we want Vinny Curry to start for us at DE, and we want Nick Foles along with your first this year and next....That new coach buys a year with an already seasoned Nick Foles and could still draft a Qb in rd 3. Ya know Chip would be all over that.

The problem is that the Bucs have the fortunate situation of having that vacancy at OC. They will take their time and find the right guy who will develop that style playbook that fits Mariota. I'd be shocked if Mariota isn't the pick at #1.

Nick Foles is too similar to Mike Glennon ... only difference is that Foles lucked into a QB friendly system with a damn good Offensive mind in Chip. Glennon has had an old school, non imaginative coach in Greg Schiano in 2013 and pretty much no Offensive Co-ordinator in 2014.
