One thing we may have to admit is that the Bucs offense may be for real. They are lighting the Eagles up. This is a complete shock to me to be honest but you have to give credit where credit is due.
I have not see Goedert once.....which is surprising. Ertz has been open all game. If Pederson used the TE's more it would force the safeties up and open things on the outside.
I think this is an interesting shit soup of a game....the recipe of which consisted of:
Bad coaching up, game planning and play calling. Wow....I have not really been able to call that out in a long while. But all of that surely sucked today. They did not have them prepared for the team they would face.
Injuries. Hopefully this one ends up being the bad rash of injuries game and we have that out of the way. That was a brutal start and the injuries made it all the worse. Early to say but me thinks Wallace is done. Hopefully Peters is back fast. At least our RBs got back in there. And while this was not a game injury not having Sproles there hurt us bad, no more than that last punt.
Penalties. I watched this game with no sound most of the time and while multi tasking. One thing I could pick up well is how bad we hurt ourselves with penalties. And I think, maybe, we got screwed a fair share of times? If so I hope this is both the bad injury game as well as the “fucked by the refs” game for the year.
Player performance issues....let’s call that the garnish on top. Mills crushed us. That said....this would be the type of receiving Corp we face that will end up with mills killing us. Last week Darby handled Jones and Mills had to hold down, what....Sanu? Much different when we face a stacked receiving Corp. Why Jones didn’t get the outside 2 and mills the slot is beyond me at this point.
There were other gaps (defensive pressure) but I’ll leave it with the most glaring one. They did punch back well enough at the end. Just left too much of a hole and dilly dallied a little too much to pull it off. At least they did not pack it in. There is that.
