I've sort of had this convo with Funbags already but I need other Eagle fans input. I'm not super stoked that the Colts drafted Richardson but does Coach Steichen help the situation with him? Can he turn him into a legitimate QB? Am I worrying for nothing or was he the right qb to take in the draft for us for the future considering Young and Stroud were already off the board? I personally wanted the Colts to take best available at 4 and just draft Hooker or Bennett later but whatever.

There is no other informed opinion here. You've reached the summit of football opinions.

There will be a brief time out this week, in honor of the Sixers. More wisdom to follow after wombs have healed.

Steichen called the plays, but he didn't develop Hurts by himself. Honestly, Hurts developed himself and Richardson will have to do the same if he's going to succeed. All these teams have the same kind of access to technical training. Some are better than others and some can connect with players better than others, but what's inside the player? How much is he willing to work and what does he do under duress?

I did read a story about Richardson that made me feel better about him. I guess the night before the Colts held their Rookie camp, this was like a week or two ago, he and Josh Downs, the rookie WR we also drafted was in their hotel parking lot running routes and going through the route tree at like 1am. Apparently those 2 hit it off pretty quick and was determined to start building chemistry.

I’m good. Same old same old with those guys. Weirdly enough, it’s easier to deal with a blow out than it is an agonizingly close outcome. Haven’t been here much because it’s kind of a dead period in the NFL post draft. June 1st cuts will probably be the next bit of stuff to spark conversation.

It looks like Cowboys fans got a big win yesterday band wagoning the Celtics. Kind of sad. I am old enough to remember when Cowboys fans still had some pride.

Hurts was that way once he was the presumed QB of the future. He wanted to get to work right away.

It was funny. I didn't catch "wombs" the first time.

I did change my avatar to Mush from The Bronx Tale though because after this season of sports, it’s clear that God loves fucking with me. Tremendous play at different points from Sixers Eagles and Phillies all ended with a swift kick in the dick haha. Being a Philadelphia sports fan, you come with a ton of scar tissue from let downs past. I inherited the 64 Phillies collapse from my father. I grew up hearing stories of Leon Stickle in Game 6 blowing an offside play to cook the Flyers during the Islanders 3-4 year run. It no longer really “hurts”. The last one that “hurt” was Eagles - Tampa Bay in 2002 the last game in the Vet. Everything else I’ve become conditioned to accept. 10 years of The Process destroyed and all for naught in one series? Meh…just a flesh wound.

Glad you are OK.
I was afraid you jumped off a greased utility pole or something.

Sorry. I missed this. Steichen had Herbert his rookie year and he had Hurts for 2 years so he’s got a nice track record for developing QBs. Steichen is game. It says a lot about the prospect that he’s the guy Steichen wanted. At the same time, I’m going to be Captain Obvious here and point out that the biggest variable here is Richardson himself and his work ethic. That being said, he’s in good hands if he’s coachable. Personally, I would have him with Tom House and his group right away working foot work and mechanics from the ground up, totally repairing his fundamentals while Steichen crafts an offense around him with maybe the 40-50% of the offense that he can handle now for year 1. I think you may see him brought around by starting with RPO. It’s a great bridge to NFL QB reads that have to be made. With RPO, the QB is really locked into reading one player and then making an either or decision. It also plays to his athletic skill set.

It wasn’t sports related but yesterday my 46 year old cousin went on a run and decided to kill himself by jumping off the Manhattan Bridge into traffic. He left a wife and child. I can’t wrap my head around that kind of cowardice to just bail on a world of people that love you. He did this shit on Mother’s Day? Fucking horrible. I don’t know if I’m sad or angry. Fucked up.

Wow, that's horrible. I saw that story this morning. Sorry to hear. Not that it's pertinent or you care at this time, but my opinion on the topic in general is people have to be pretty messed up inside their own head and dealing with something that the rest of us just don't understand in that moment to do that so I try and cut them some slack. They likely loved their kids and family and friends as much as the rest of us and whatever pushed him to this must have been unbearable in his mind knowing what was going to be left behind. Sadly they can often get pulled out of that dark, desperate mindset if you can just get them through those moments. I know some people who have unfortunately done the same and it's never easy wondering what you could have done differently and dealing with (for some) the guilt related to that. The human mind is about the most complicated thing on the planet and some people just have that tragic flaw in their "wiring" even if somewhat self induced. Remember the positives. Sad story and again sorry to hear.
