How will the turmoil effect his offensive production in this upcoming season?

Drew Brees leads the NFL in interceptions since 2004. Just hope he doesn't have another NFL leading 25 interception season.. HA

Hey now, I think he will have a good season, but i think he is probably past his prime and is starting to decline. I think he will play out the rest of his contract and will hand over the reigns to Grayson or sign a 1 year deal to give Grayson some more time. He is signed till the end of 2016. Drew Brees says he wants to play till 45. That may happen, but he won't be playing for the Saints till 45.

Why? Is that just a homer statement? If so I get it. Otherwise it makes absolutely no sense.

I think Brees is now a top 15 QB that used to be elite. His safety blanket, Graham is gone, he has a whole different set of receivers and his Defense will be bottom 10. This portends another losing season. I don's think Drew can carry a team any more.

The volume numbers will probably be there for him still because they'll be chucking it a ton, but they've definitely taken a hit with the loss of a couple talented receiving options and Brees seemed to decline a bit last year as it was. Going into last season, he was still part of that top 4 group of QBs. I think he fell out of that by playoff time and now is probably on the verge of falling out of the top 10 depending on how this season goes.

If I am correct Brees has the largest cap hit against his team to the tune of about $27M this year and $28M next year.
His guarantee is about $7.5M this year and next.
He looks like a pay cut candidate to me. I think those dollars are way too much for Mr Brees.

No he doesn't. He has 163, Eli has 185...besides, Eli's the one who's thrown 25, Brees' high is 22.

Yeah when I read that comment I kept thinking that just doesn't sound correct. I had looked it up the other day as on another board somebody had posted a comment predicting Peyton Manning would throw something like 27 interceptions this year and so looked back over the last 15 years and Manning hasn't been even close to that number since his rookie year and only a handful of quarterbacks had even come close to that with Brees not being one of them.

As another poster commented I think the yards will still be up there as this team will be chucking it like usual especially with the defense looking at best like a middle of the pack group. Touchdowns wise though losing your best Red Zone player in Graham doesn't usually mean things will all of a sudden be better the next season.

Right now I would predict him to have something like 4800 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. All in all actually a pretty decent season. Not tops in the league of course but I still think makes him a top-10 quarterback.

The saints will not be in the bottom of the league in defense. How does the adds of Browner, Ellerbe, Williams, plus the draft picks say decline? Did you forget ball hawk Byrd only played three games last year?

As for offense, Brees needs a safety blanket? He has Spiller who is dangerous in the passing game and is playing in a system like Gailey had for hiim. Brees has a ol that will block for him not to mention the personnel changes where the people responsible for poor coaching and drafting bad talent were shown the door.

Either way I'm not anticipating the NFL season until its here. The offseason is just full of stupid opinions.

Middle of the back for defense on the saints is an improvement. Losing Graham is the only argument people have but cannot deny the saints worked on improving everything but the receiving this offseason. Thats only going to help Brees because Brees wants the team to fire him up. And Brees won't be in a hurry to get rid of the ball because Grubbs won't be up in his face.

Every thing points to the Saints going away from a chucke it up passing attack to more of a running, time clock chewing offense, that well benefit the defense. It's obvious to me.

How many starting QBs have been in the league that long, 5?

I'm sure Brady or Manning lead since 1999.

Brees declined last year because of a shitty offensive line. He had to force a ton of passes because protection broke down way too fast which led to his high interception total.

He will be fine but as Harold stated we will be more balanced this year

He was just shy of 5000 yards and threw nearly twice as many TDs as Ints(33 to 17) last year. And completed nearly 70% of his passes.

Crazy how great you have to be for people to consider that a decline. (I don't know what it's like to see a QB complete passes at that kind of clip.).

It's all relative. Brees had 46 TDs in 2011, 43 in 2012, 39 in 2013 and 33 in 2014. Surely you see the downward trend ..correct?

Tds is one of the dumbest ways to judge a QB production. He was never a big high 30's/low 40's td guy until 2011. The year the Saints won the superbowl he had 34 tds. Heck the year they made it to the NFC title game in 06 he only had 28 tds

You do know 40+ tds is rare in the NFL right? In the last 4 years it has happened 4 times by a QB not named Brees in the last 4 years. Only Rodgers, Stafford, Luck, and Manning were able to do it in the last 4 years. Brees did it 2 times in the same time period but hey let's jump on Brees because he doesn't throw 40+ tds yearly because you know 40+ tds is obviously easy to do
