Im shocked to see hes doing well. Havent followed the NBA since wade took 30 some free throws when the heat beat the mavs in 06 i believe. Glad to see a spartan doing well. He is one of the smartest players to ever play at state

Only twice in 20 years did this award not go to a C or a power forward playing Center

He's been guarding every position 1-5 but I think if it only goes to a CEnter. I would give it to duncan

Basically it is award for centers. The only 2 players to win it in the last 20 years who was not a center or a power forward playing Center were Gary Payton & Ron Artest

Gary Payton was a monster. I think draymond should get 1st or 2nd team

Funny thing is when the award was first created in 83, 5 of the first 6 DPOY went to played guard/sf. Since that point only 2 players won it who did not play the F/C position

I'm also surprised by just how good Green is in the league. I know he was a really good college player, but the few times that I saw him he didn't look like anything too special. I've seen a few of his games this year and he has been stellar. Remarkably versatile at both ends of the floor and, as you write, a very smart player.

Most of thw power forward who won it played center a lot of time but the only true power forward to win it was Rodman and he won it twice. KG won it in Boston but played a lot of center that year when Perkins was on the bench so depending how you view KG, either 1 or 2 power forwards won it

I really wanted him to stay home and play for the Pistons; they could really use a solid SF. Maybe they can entice him away from California with his memories of beautiful Flint and Detroit and our wonderful weather.

He plays the 4 for us all the time but can play the 3. But I agree

To me Green is a prime example of how important being a smart player is. He has a skill set similar to Josh Smith with Smith probably having a little more natural physical talent. However, which one plays better ball and you would want on your team? Not even close.

The craziest part of Draymond's evolution was that coming out of college the main reason he slid on a lot of draft boards was because they weren't sure who he could defend. Scouts saw him as a tweener, which he kind of is, but didn't know if he was quick enough to guard SF's or strong enough to guard PF's. The crazy thing is he'll switch on to PG's and C's now and lock them up.

That's pretty much polar opposites when it comes to the scouting report and actuality. He's been great all year and nice to see him getting some recognition. The Warriors can match any offer since he's a restricted free agent. I'm hoping that the Warriors just take care of him right away instead of letting some team go crazy with an offer. #paydray

Golden State already has $77.5mil on the books next season for 8 players. It will be interesting to see what they do this summer. Maybe trade Lee's large expiring contract to give themselves some space. Draymond will have suitors.
