I like Sanu, but I'm afraid they are counting his dropped balls as a liability now.

Jones could be our #2, but it would be nice to have a legit guy there from free agency or the draft, doubt the Bengals will look any further than having Hobspin talk about how Greg Little will be better next year because he finally got to look at the playbook.

51 for 712 and 10 is pretty legit if you ask me.

I'd take an o- tackle and load up on front 7 guys. Remember how excited everyone was about how all of our linebackers were undrafted...well now its coming back to bite us.

We need an OT, 2 DE's, a DT and 2 LB's at least .

DT/DE/OL are top 3 priorities, with DE/DT being the top 2

TE/LB

Fill in the rest

I agree those are all concerns.

We need a difference maker at DE, there is no doubt. I would love to have Bennett from Ohio State, and I have zero issue taking him in the second round if he makes it there.

We need a legit DE though.

I just think we need to really really address our DE situation, and JPP may be the guy we finally spend FA coin on. We were so bad on that other side, we have to have a drastic improvement there to compete.

So if we get JPP, which is more a wish obviously than realistic, then you can draft a quality DT or WR in the first. Best available.

I see WR being a major ass concern. Dalton is not in any way good enough to carry a team, so you have to surround his ass with tons of talent. With the kinds of injuries we had on offense this year, I think that game could have been much different in Indy had Gresham, Eifert, Green, Sanu, Jones all been available to throw the ball to. You can't count on Eifert and Jones, Dalton has been getting Green killed more often, so you need quality depth.

You can avoid the draft with a WR too if they go get themselves someone like Randall Cobb. If we are going to be forced to have Dalton as our QB, you have to surround him with tons of offensive talent. If we get depleted like this again at WR, I don't care how much damn talent you have on defense, we are not going to do a damn thing. Teams will stack 8 in the box on Hill, force Dalton to hit a depleted talentless WR core to beat them. That is not going to ever freaking happen. However, if you can put tons of talent on the field and make defenses have to cover in man or zones, Dalton has the talent to pick apart defenses like that even as crappy as he is. However, if he has no offensive weapons that can get any separation, in one on one coverage, he is going to fold like a lawn chair when forced to throw.

We need help on defense, and it is mostly on the defensive line.

Sign JPP and sign Michael Bennett from Ohio State, start Thompson with Bennett as a sub and rotate Gilberry in at DE/DT across the line.

Since Dalton is our starting QB, WR is a major concern of this team, because if Dalton doesn't have tons of talent opening up throws, he will never win a playoff game. So give him the talent and pray because Dalton and Lewis are going no where soon.

We aren't signing JPP, might as well not even talk about him. Our linebackers are crap and you want to talk about injury concerns with WRs but ignore it with LB. Burfict is only about 2 hits away from never playing again because he has no idea how to tackle correctly. Rey may not even be back this year and if he is he should be nothing more than a backup. Lamur isn't that good and shouldn't start. Same with Ray. We need a DE, DT, 2 LBers, at least. Not to mention another OT for depth and oh yeah we will probably only have 1 viable TE on the roster.

If Andy Dalton can't hack it with the weapons we have when healthy he doesn't need to be an NFL QB>

1. Maulauga is bad. He doesn't play the run well and is worse against the pass. He needs to be released. Lamur isn't any better. If he is starting it's not good. Rey has proven he can't start and Flowers is meh. Burfict is always hurt, no reason so think we can depend on him. We need to take a linebacker early, probably 2 honestly. Maualuga is not a concern when they DL gets pressure and he is flanked by Burfict and Lamur. We need serious help at depth though as it was proven, after Rey (who is only a backup), we haver no depth at all at LB.

2. Brandon Thompson is a decent run blocker but gives little pass rush. He is a rotational guy and shouldn't be starting. Peko needs cut. We need another legit DT brought in to help with the run and pass rush. I do not disagree we need to address this area, and maybe even a 1st or second rounder here. I would personally like Michael Bennett from OSU.

3. Even if we keep Hall, his age and lack of speed make him nothing more than a slot CB at best and still leaves us with only 4 guys. We need another CB in the mid rounds to keep talent and depth. CB depth more important to a team than WR depth. We also severely lack speed at CB. We have to get a speed guy who can cover speed WRs because we don't have one. Hall is obviously only a slot CB, as we have three other guys that can cover outside in Jones, Dennard, Kirkpatrick. So all we need is 5th corner depth, not a major concern.

4. QB is honestly the biggest concern on the team but we aren't taking one early. Might as well move on. I completely agree and since it is not happening any time soon, no point in dwelling on it.

5. TE is a bigger need than WR too. Eifert keeps getting hurt and we don't even know if Gresham will want to come back. Someone will pay him as much if not more than us and honestly why would he come back to a place that hates him? I completely agree here this is a concern, but once again, I think they will try to resign Gresham as they want that talented depth there even if Gresham is a bone head with penalties and flailing of the ball away from his body when working for extra yards. He is still a decent TE though, and that is all he will get paid as.

6. OL is decent, but Whit is old, Tits is always hurt, we have to plan for the future. We need an OT fairly early too. Wouldn't be surprised if they took an OT in the 1st round at all. There will be absolutely ZERO reason to take an OT in the first round as by the time it gets to us, we will be 6 to 7 OT's deep into the draft. There is no way we draft a 7th rated OT instead of a 2nd or 3rd best DT or DE, or 3rd best WR.

7. DE IMO is the biggest need on the team after QB and we have to take one early and quite honestly I'd take 2. We have to get to the quarterback and if we can't our defense will never hold up. There is absolutely no doubt about this one. However, I don't think we can improve our DE slot enough with our draft position that I think this is the year we should finally spend FA coin on a guy like JPP. This is by far the weakest position on our team, even worse than Dalton to be honest. Though, Dalton is a close second. We need a drastic upgrade, this is the year we need to fix this issue. JPP will cost a lot, but nothing like Justin Houston will.

8. WR need isn't that huge. Green will be back as will Sanu. Jones is coming off injury and no we don't know what he will be, but he was a huge impact player when he was healthy and there have been no reports to suggest he won't be healthy next year. Tate will likely be back because they love him. Wright played well when given the chance. Sanz may also be back. I think it's a lot more likely we sign someone in FA than draft one early. WR is definitely a major concern as Dalton is not good enough to carry an offense, he needs tons of talent surrounding him so that opposing defenses can't stack the box on Hill and the running game, while being forced to single cover or play zone on Dalton at the WR's. If opposing defenses are forced to single cover talented WR's, Dalton has enough talent to pick defenses apart if his running game is not taken away, and he has options he has confidence in. As I said, I am not opposed to addressing our WR in FA, but it has to be a quality #2 type WR, not a 3rd 4th type WR. If we lose depth again like this year, our defense would be #1 and we will still be one and done.

Exactly, but that is not happening. So as an alternative you surround him with talent. This is more likely than getting rid of Dalton.

I'm fine with Gresham. 60 receptions for a TE is pretty damn good.

I hate him, though. I wish we had Gronk.

Hell yeah.

1st week of January and the board is already talking about which Ohio State players we need to draft.

Never change, Bengals fans :suds:

I like Michael Bennett, but I don't think he falls to us in the 2nd. Smith is a mid round receiver prospect. I don't see anyone else that is coming out for OSU as a high pick. Though I would love to pick up Noah Spence late or as an UDFA. If he can get clean dude is a player.
