No on Atkinson, but otherwise you have a deal.

Seriously, a team with two good goalies should be all over that.

Schneider from Vancouver
Bishop or Lehner from Ottawa
Bernier from LA
Holtby or Vokoun...
If the Blues weren't division rivals I'd say Halak or Elliott.

Immediate roster help for something that, with the Jackets' history, will become the next Gilbert Brule.

Oh! Oh my God! Sergei Bobrovsky! SERGEI BOBROVSKY!

Forsberg has been slotted in the top 6 pretty much all year. Had a pretty good year in the SEL. As far as draft years go it was (statistically) between Zibanejad and Backstrom in terms of production. Watching him at the WJHC his style of play reminded me a bit of Loui Eriksson.

He looks like he'll be a good player. I just see the Isles looking for a top pairing defenseman though.

I honestly expect the Islanders to take Galchenyuk if he's available for a couple of reasons.

1.They want to bring Kirill Petrov over from Russia in the worst way imaginable. They resigned Nabby & have Kirill Kabanov coming soon. They want Petrov to be as comfortable as possible. This guy is legit too. 6'3 over 200LBS. Scored 16 goals in the KHL while playing on the 4th line for the most part with AK Bars. They've waited 4 years to sign him. Now is the time. Adding a Russian Center for him to play with would only help.

2.Center is the position the Isles seem to want as much depth as possible.

3.They took 4 defenseman in last years draft. Mayfield, Pedan & Kichton all have big upside. I expect Matt Donovan & Calvin De Haan to make the opening night roster.

4.This is a deep draft on the blueline. The Isles can get a quality defenseman in rounds 2 & 3 without a problem.

Need D and goaltending, not to mention some size up front. Make this pick count, sign a vet or 2 and they are a legit threat in 2 years.
right when the first of the ELC's start to expire
(that's what happens when they constantly rush 18 year old players into the line-up)

I call BULLSHIT!! This thing has to be rigged somehow. I mean 3 straight years?? I would have been fine with ANYONE else winning the lottery. I wouldn't have cared who it was.

Edmonton wins it. UNBELIEVABLE!!:mad2:

exactly. fuck them.
I was hoping CBJ kept it, or Mtl moved up.
but really, anybody but Edmonton.

lol...I love how all the Oilers trolls are invading Calgary hockey boards in celebration. Do they forget that Lowebellini are still running that team into the ground? Oh well, whatever helps you sleep at night Coilers.

That and they could have just lost one of their #1 overall picks long term effectiveness in Taylor Hall. They also still have a hotbed of shitty goalies.

Funny how trolls try to make finishing in the bottom 2 three straight years sound like something to be celebrated. Of course it's not like Edmonton has won anything else recently...

I think it's kinda silly that c-bus can finish 9 points below Edmonton, 13 points below the Habs... and still not automatically qualify for the #1 position in the draft. I realize the temptation is out there to intentionally throw games, and the reason the system was implemented(too bad it was for Daigle:loco:).

don't say a word about 66 cause I ain't listening'
:loco2:

in any case, I still think the system is kind of outdated now that there is a salary cap in the NHL. There is an awful lot of parity in the game today, but there is usually one team each and every season since the cap was implemented that just plain sucks(sry 43). Columbus deserves the Yakupov sweepstakes, but no cigar.

Kane would look good in black and orange. I agree.

It is just so obvious that Columbus has the greatest need to draft first overall, this season. I think the general managers and owners need to find it within themselves to police each other, and stop any shenanigans when it comes to throwing games.

They need a draft order that puts the worst team #1 overall.

I agree. The year that shall not be mentioned the flyers were like 20 points behind 29th place and didn't get the forst pick. Stupid.

I'm not bitter though, from all accounts the fluent were taking jvr regardless. And in ok with that cause I don't really like Kane anyway.

Soooooooooooo.............

How long until Edmonton scores 410 goals in a season now?

I think if you either picked 1st overall (or traded that pick away) or won the lottery the previous year you should be disqualified from winning again this year. You can still hold onto your own draft spot but you just can't move up. So this year that would have eliminated Edmonton and N,J but NJ made the playoffs anyway so it wouldn't have mattered to them. Even if Edmonton had hypothetically finished last again they still would have had a chance to retain the top pick but their odds would have been less because they couldn't win the lottery themselves. Instead they would have to rely on a team outside the top 5 winning it. So their odds of picking 1st would drop from 48.2% to 30.9%, and everyone else's odds of winning the lottery would increase by 33%.

I'd do either one!! Where do wee sign?

Think the Sens would let go of their first rounder and Lehner for it?

I like it for both teams. Jackets get the top 2 picks, and at the same time free up enough cap space to sign 2 legit free agents. There is some talent there, this trade would make them playoff worthy. Oilers would get a big body that can score and take pressure off of the younger guys.

Except for one fact: Two draft picks to potentially replace a guy who is already better than both of them and has the backing of every fan in the stands the year you get to host the ASG. Bad bet.

No doubt the Jackets need some talent. But letting go of the biggest talent they have to get it is not the way to get there, especially when he has demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt how bad he wants to stay. I don't care what free agents are out there. Pushing Nash out the door is a hole that can't be filled right away unless you trade him for a Thornton or Iginla. Someone who can fill his shoes on and off the ice.

Oh! Oh my God! Sergei Bobrovsky! SERGEI BOBROVSKY!

Read it again. I said good goalies.

I know where that is. A few miles from where I work.
