Seems like Greinke had people on base all game long. I think he only had one 123 inning. But he did get through 7 full innings which was good. I didn't want to see Clippard come in.
He's been garbage in every start but one this year. I'm glad he's getting the experience though. Season is already over so might as well get the young guys some innings.
O'Brien has struck out over half his at-bats and is rocking an OBP under .100. Small sample size, but hasn't quite injected a big boost into this turd squad.
Nick Ahmed is probably the worst hitter for a non-pitcher I have ever seen. I really mean that. In 25 games in 2014, he batted .200. Last year he batted .226. This year he is currently batting .212. How can any team in baseball have an everyday shortstop bat around .200 each season and expect to win. This guy should be sent to single-A. Who cares about his defense when he bats this poorly. There are lots of great defenders that can bat far better.
12.5 games out of first now. 13 more losses than the Giants. Chip Hale continues to play Tomas and Ahmed and they fail over and over and over again in crucial situations. Does Hale actually expect them to come through? I do not understand. This is an embarrassment. It is one thing to suck. It is entirely different when the manager consistently puts his team at a disadvantage by not playing the best players on his roster. I would play Peralta over Tomas regardless of who is pitching. If you want to play Drury, do not bench Lamb. Put Drury at second base and move Segura to shortstop and bench Ahmed. And keep Tomas' horrific hitting with runners on base on the bench too and put O'Brien in the game. That is what they brought him up for right. The team will never go anywhere with this manager.
4 game sweep of the Phillies was just what the doctor ordered. I'm glad Miller got his start in against them instead of the Blue Jays too. I'm sure that was planned. Blue Jays offense absolutely dwarfs the Phillies.
The Diamondbacks have one starter with an ERA under 4.00. ONE. Idk what to say. How many years in a row have the Diamondbacks had the worst pitching staff in baseball? Five including this season so far. This is insane.
