As of now, I'm not worried about his ability to hit for average and homers. I'm worried about his plate approach, though
He will have the whole season to play in one place to really concentrate on fixing the little things he didn’t work on a Saturday he rocketed up the system. That should be a good thing for him.

Wednesday 5/2

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 6-5 (12-14)

Chris Shaw 3-4, 2 HR (6th and 7th), 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R
Orlando Calixte 2-4, HR (3rd), 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
Hunter Pence 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K

Shaw has a .547 SLG this season. He recently jumped into Baseball America's top-100 prospects list.

Dereck Rodriguez 6.0-4-2-2-0-6
Dusten Knight 2.0-2-1-0-0-1
Madison Younginer 0.1-4-3-3-1-0

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels lost 3-2 (14-11)

Dylan Davis 2-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R
Ryan Howard 1-5, 2B, 1 R

Garrett Williams 6.0-7-2-1-2-4
Ray Black 2.0-0-0-0-0-5
Ryan Halstead 1.0-1-0-0-0-0
Caleb Simpson 1.0-1-1-0-0-1

This was Black's longest stint since July of 2015. He now has 18 K's in 8 innings this season! Fastball still gets up to 102, but he's taking more off this year for better command..... at around 98. His curveball is truly special as well.

A+: San Jose Giants WON 4-1 (16-11)

Jalen Miller 3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R
Brandon Van Horn 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 CS (6th)

Logan Webb 4.0-2-1-0-2-3
DJ Myers 4.0-3-0-0-2-3
Patrick Ruotolo 1.0-0-0-0-0-2

Much like Mac Marshall, the Giants still have the kid gloves on Webb. He's been limited to 3 innings so far this season, so today's 4-inning stint is a sign of progression.

A: Augusta GreenJackets WON 3-1 (18-7)

Manuel Geraldo 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 R, SB (5th)
Heliot Ramos 0-5, 4 K

Jose Marte 5.2-3-1-1-2-7
CJ Gettman 1.1-1-0-0-1-2
Camilo Doval 1.0-1-0-0-0-1
Frank Rubio 1.0-2-0-0-0-1

My boy Doval is now up to 7.1 scoreless innings since his disastrous start. Jose Marte is a guy to keep an eye on as well.

Thursday's Probables:

Sacramento: Casey Kelly
Richmond: off
San Jose: Conner Menez
Augusta: Aaron Phillips

Conner Menez 5.1-5-3-3-2-10
Dylan Rheault 1.2-3-1-0-1-1
Connor Overton 2.0-1-0-0-0-0

A: Augusta GreenJackets lost 8-7 in 15 innings (18-8)

Rob Calabrese 1-4, HR (3rd), 3 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB. The 2-run shot tied the game in the 9th
Ryan Kirby 2-6, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Jean Angomas 2-4, 2B, 1 R, 2 BB

The opposing team had 5 errors in this game. The GreenJackets also blew 3 saves in extra innings, but none of the runs were earned, even though they only committed 1 error themselves. Not sure how the math works out there.

Aaron Phillips 5.0-5-4-3-0-7
Joey Marciano 5.0-4-1-0-2-7
Franklin Van Gurp 3.0-1-1-0-3-5
John Russell 1.0-1-2-0-0-2

Scary, scary stuff in Augusta.

On the first batter of the game, Heliot Ramos and Jean Angomas collided in the outfield. Ramos is bleeding from the face, and Angomas has been down on the field, not moving, for an extended period of time. An ambulance has arrive for Jean.

Ramos stayed in the game but then came out. IDK if that was because something flared up or because someone in the Front Office called and told them to get him the hell out of there.

Noting on Jean.
According to Twitter, Ramos had a huge gash on his face. Why tf did he stay in the game?

Augusta was short-handed tonight because they had to send some players up to help the upper squads. So that was probably their thinking.... which leads me to believe the Giants intervened and had him yanked.

Angomas suffered a concussion, but appears fine. I can’t find any reference to Ramos’ status. I choose to take that as a good sign.

Friday 5/4

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 11-2 (13-15)

Chris Shaw 2-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K

Jose Flores 5.0-5-3-3-1-2
Dillon McNamara 1.1-5-5-4-1-2
Madison Younginer 1.0-4-3-2-2-0
Dusten Knight 0.2-0-0-0-0-0

The River Cats have just been decimated on the pitching side because of promotions

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels lost 7-6 (14-12)

Ryan Howard 3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K
Ronnie Jebavy 2-4, HR (1st), 2B, 3 RBI, 1 R
Miguel Gomez 1-4, 2B, 1 RBI

Cory Taylor 5.0-10-5-5-2-2
Will LaMarche 3.0-5-2-2-1-2

A+: San Jose Giants WON 7-6 (17-12)

Heath Quinn 4-5, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 outfield assist
Matt Winn 2-5, HR (2nd), 3 RBI, 2 R, 3 K, 2 passed balls
Wander Franco 1-5, HR (1st), 2 RBI, 1 R. His homer was a go-ahead shot in the 10th

Heath Quinn's resurgence continues. He's up to .326/.387/.484 on the season with 2 homers and 9 doubles. Power is still coming around, which is his calling card.

Mac Marshall 3.0-2-2-2-1-4
Sandro Cabrera 4.2-4-3-3-2-5
Rodolfo Martinez 1.1-0-0-0-0-0
Patrick Ruotolo 1.0-1-1-0-1-1

More solid stuff from Marshall. Had two clean innings to open the game, then ran into trouble in the third. Fastball up to 94, cutter up to 93, above average changeup.

A: Augusta GreenJackets lost 3-1 (18-9)

Manuel Geraldo 2-4, HR (2nd), 1 RBI, 1 R

The big scare here was Ramos and Angomas, who collided in the first inning. Both appear to be okay, thankfully. I did get an update on Ramos, he was hanging out in the dugout the remainder of the game and seemed to be okay.

Jason Bahr 6.0-4-2-2-1-7
Peter Lannoo 2.0-3-1-1-0-2

Saturday's Probables:

Richmond: Shaun Anderson
San Jose: Raffi Vizciano

Jake McCasland 1.0-0-0-0-0-1
Dan Slania 1.0-1-0-0-0-1
Ray Black 1.0-0-0-0-0-1

Definitely not Anderson's best outing, but his defense did let him down.

All of Ray Black walks came in two outings. 6 of his 9 have been perfect. He has 19 K's in 9 innings.

The only thing keeping Black out of SF are roster mechanics at this point. Hopefully he gets his cuppo before he loses his arm again.

That's kinda my hope. This guy seemingly has limited ammo, have to use him while they can. And now he's showing that he can actually throw strikes consistently and go multiple innings. Next he'll have to throw on back-to-back nights. If he does that, and bounces back, he will be on a plane to SF.

Also, after such a long journey for him, it would be a cool story. And he could actually be useful.
