We jinxed Osich, I think. He was going pretty well. But in the last two weeks, he's pitched 7 innings, given up 16 hits, 12 earned runs, 3 walks and 4 K's, and his ERA has skyrocketed from 2.84 to 6.23.

Oh I forgot about the appeal play in thursday's game. A dog hit a liner and raced to second with a double, so he thought. Before the next pitch, the pitcher threw to first for the appeal, AND IT WAS GRANTED. Oh boy you should have seen the first base coach's arms and legs a pumping as he raced to home plate to confront the umpire.

It was beautiful, and it being the first successful appeal that I can remember seeing it made it even better.

Also, after the Futures Game, Shaun Anderson is getting promoted to AAA. Good for the kid, who's probably the top starting pitching prospect at the moment and now on the doorstep to the majors.

A lot of moves in the past week, especially for pitchers. I find it interesting that Daniel Camarena and Mike Connolly both got demoted to Richmond (although, technically, Camarena is being stored at Salem-Keizer at the moment) while Gage got released. Yet Jose Valdez and the wonder lefties, Osich and Okert, continue to use up River Cat roster space. I find the fact that Valdez, especially, is kept considering that Dusten Knight, Chris Heston and Sam Wolff all get shipped to Richmond after rehab assignments.

The RiverCats were thin on outfielders with Eury Perez going on the disabled list. That is why Peter Bourjos was signed. However, I would have rather seen Luigi Rodriguez have gotten a promotion.
