I must say, I look forward to the days when I get to cover a team home-road. River Cats gone for 11 days and I was bored.

Cats back in SAC tonight.

Tonight's lineup does not include Pence, Panik, Susac.

But I will be watching Gregorio for the fifth time this season.

Season-high 9 K's for Gregorio. Slider just wrecked El Paso (PCL's best offense) chasing and missing all night like a blind dog chasing its tail.

Pence, Panil, Adrianza, Susac in the lineup tomorrow. Hope to speak to at least one of Panik/Pence.

Also; going to set up an interview with Myles Scrhoder

River Cats won 12-0, scored nine runs in first two innings.

Susac: 2-4, 1 HR (oppo-shot), 2 RBI, walk. Has 6 HRs in past 11 games.
Adrianza: First pitch he saw tonight, two-run shot over left-field fence. Finished 3-5
Slater: 2-4, 400 ft bomb
Pence: 1-4, 2B, K, two groundouts.

Post-appearance interview w/ Pence (Myself, Sean Cunningham, Andy Furillo (I'm not a fan) asked questions)

Hunter Pence Interview:

Summary of Appearance Tonight:

“Pretty good ball game to be a part of. The crowds here are passionate and fun, it was a good time, the guys were swinging it well”

“It feels good to just be on the baseball field and working my way back. Still got a little ways to be feeling normal, but it’s nice to be able to get out there and play

Love from Sacramento fans:

It’s amazing, it truly is humbling. To come out and play in front of them, to get the welcome and the excitement, the cheers, it’s awesome”

On If Any Pain in Leg:

“We’re working through some stuff. It felt good to be out there again and competing.”

On if He Had a Setback Last Night

“I just wasn’t ready yet. We’re trying to get back as quick as I can, wasn’t quite ready yet. I wouldn’t say a setback, we were ahead of schedule and I wasn’t ready.”

On Responding/Preparing Through Setbacks

For me, you just deal with what’s given and give your best. There’s always some hurdles throughout the season and obstacles for every player and every team, just embrace it, enjoy it. Yeah it’s a lot of pain, it’s no fun (the rehab process). I want to be out there, but I’m going to do the best with what’s given and keep grinding”

Giants Six-Game Losing Streak, Watch Guys Struggle:

I understand the eb and flow of the season and these things happen. There are going to be times it doesn’t quite go your way and times it does, I just look forward to getting up there and encouraging them and let them know everything is going to be alright”

Mac Williamson

“He’s going to be a big part of helping us when I return. He’s an incredible outfielder, spectacular talent. It’s good for him to get this playing time, also Parker. These kids are extremely good and they are going to help us and they are going to make a difference.”

Hamstring:

“Really looking for this thing to get a little stronger, able to do a little more for me, so working on that.”

On if OF Depth Has Taken Pressure Off him to Return* (My Question)

“Pressure is only created by yourself and it doesn’t really do you any good. Any time I’m trying to feel an emotion or act a certain way, is this going to help or is this going to get in the way. So for me I’m going to give my best and focus on the things that I can handle. So I don’t concern myself with anything other than helping the best I can with where I can physically go or just mentally, do something. So yeah, feeling good.

There were a few dumb questions asked IMO, didn't include those in here.

I totally agree with you. I hope one day soon you can become to go-to Sacramento reporter for all sports and push Furillo OUT.

GREAT work.

Gotta say, Matt, you make us proud. You were with us when you were just a high school kid with a dream. Now you have come to realize that dream. So proud of you. Seriously!

Don't forget us when you see the big lights...

First, thank you so much. Means a lot to me to hear/read that as the work/time starts to come together to be here and keep climbing.

Also, never!. This will remain a place where quotes/stories I get will come here and be one of the first places I post them.

Pitching line: IP-H-ER-R-BB-SO

Sacramento: OFF

Richmond (40-60) WON 2-1 in 10 innings

Steven Duggar 2-5 (.307), PO. Named among MLB Pipeline's CFer of the week. He was also the Eastern League player of the week. Slashed .565/.643/.739 for the week
Christian Arroyo 2-5 (.281), 1 RBI, 1 R. Played 3B.
Carlos Moncreif 2-4 (.287), 1 RBI, 1 BB. Game-winning run in 10th.

Daniel Slania 8.0-4-1-1-1-5 (2.50 ERA). He has been fantastic since joining the rotation. In 10 starts: 60.2 IP, 1.48 ERA, 45 H, 49 Ks, 18 BBs.
Tyler Mizenko (W, 2-4) 1.0-0-0-0-1-1 (3.32 ERA)
Chase Johnson (S, 1) 1.0-1-0-0-0-1 (3.64 ERA)

San Jose (53-48) WON 4-1

Dylan Davis 1-4 (.262), HR (8th), 3 RBI
Jonah Arenado 1-3 (.269), 1 2B (27th), 1 BB. Another double and another walk for Jonah. He's really coming into his own this year. His swing is a mirror image of his brothers.
Christian Paulino 0-4 (.261), 1 R, 2 SB (24th & 25th). Stole home on a double-steal.

Mark Reyes (W, 8-4) 7.0-4-1-1-2-6 (4.26 ERA). Reyes has a real nice slider and 2-seam fastball that neutralizes lefties pretty well. I think one day he could be a LOOGY, maybe a long reliever who could go through a lineup once.
Tyler Cyr 1.0-1-0-0-2-1 (2.25 ERA)
Reyes Moronta (S, 6) 1.0-0-0-0-1-1 (2.13 ERA)

Augusta (55-46) WON 5-1

Lucius Fox
1-3 (.208), 1 BB, 2 RBI, 1 R, SB (24th), E (31st)
Skyler Ewing 3-4 (.239), 1 HR (6th), 1 RBI, 1 R

Michael Connolly
(W, 8-4) 8.0-4-1-1-0-7 (2.66 ERA)
Cesar Yanez 1.0-0-0-0-0-1 (0.00 ERA)

Salem-Keizer (17-21) lost 12-9 in 12 innings (trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the 9th)

Bryan Reynolds 2-7 (.286), 4 RBI, 2B, 3B, 1 R
Heath Quinn 1-6 (.320), 1 HR (3rd), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB
Ryan Kirby 3-6 (.278), 1 HR (2nd), 2 RBI, 1 R
Ashford Fulmer 2-4 (.330), 2 R, 2 HBP

Matt Krook 3.2-3-2-1-2-3 (1.88 ERA)
(Too many to list, none noteworthy enough to post)

DSL Giants (24-19) WON 7-6 (against the DSL Reds. At least someone could beat them tonight).

I like Arenado, but I have trying to think of successful siblings of stars. I have only been able to come up with a few...

Dom DiMaggio
Alou brothers

I am sure there are a few others, but the point remains.

off the top of my head:

Aarons
Boones
Deans
Perrys
Deans
Ripkins
Maddux
Leiters
Drews
Glavines
all 19 Hairstons
Hoffmans.

It happens a lot more than we think. Usually one famous brother and another guy who got a cuppo.

Tommy Aaron was a scrub at best.
Aaron and Brett were both decent, but neither were stars.
Wasn't familiar with Jim Perry, but yes, he looked like a solid player.
Daffy Dean had 2 years, and I am not even sure how good those years were, seeing as they were in the dead-ball era.
Billy was OK, but nothing special.
Mike Maddux lasted forever. Not much more can be said for him.
If Al Leiter were the "the brother", than he would be OK. But as "the star", just a couple of scrub brothers.
Similar case for the Drews. JD was solid, but no star. Stephen was better than a scrub.
Mike Glavine? Really? Why didn't you mention Ozzie Canseco?
All Hairstons were just journeymen, at best. Just because they all killed the Giants doesn't make any of them stars.
Glenn Hoffman was serviceable at best.

I was not saying he couldn't get a cuppo, or that brothers never make the bigs. I was saying that brothers rarely make a difference. I would have used most of your samples to help prove my point...

Heck, second/third gen players rarely do much (Bonds, Sheffield, Boones, Bell, Griffey, a few others are exceptions)
