Doug Slaten Called Up

Doug Slaten has been called up from Indy to take Juan Cruz's spot in the pen.

Juan Cruz, has been placed on the restricted list by the team & he has been excused, to go home to the Dominican Republic, to take care of personal matters. (Per ESPN.com)

I don't think this move will hurt the pen at all.

He surely had the numbers to deserve a callup. I read somewhere he had a contract like Grilli did last year where he could leave soon if he wasnt on the 25 man roster. We can hope he is as filthy

this is great because cruz was always putting people on and it is bound to catch up with him.
would rather see watson go down and get more work on some things before he can really take the next steps it seems.

the Bucs are just really fortunate to have this kid waiting in the wings, pitching out of his mind in AAA....

When Cruz gets back in a few days the bullpen could be even a little better if Slaton works out.

There is bullpen depth now...The Rotation is as solid as it has been in some time and there is more help on the way for the rotation... And this help is not a couple of AAAA starters that might compete for the 5th spot in the rotation either.

Now if NH could just do something about this offense or the lack thereof.
