I taught my daughter when she was 4 - if you want to fish, you have to learn to bait your hook and remove the fish from the line. She is 28 and still loves to fish so get em started young.

Pretty much that. If she hooks a nice one, she will hold it for a picture, after I take the hook out, of course.


She won't get within 10 feet of the pike I catch. Can't say I blame her too much...fuckers are all teeth, and the biggins are legit, inch-long sharp-ass teeth. Fuckers will get ya. You almost have to keep em.

With trout, my wife will get em on the small ones if they're not balls deep. She's a great fisherman tho, and generally outfishes most the friends we'll go with.

I have taught her how to tie the shit on dozens of times, she plays dumb and makes me do it every time...love the days on the river when she snags and loses 5 dollar lures every 7 minutes, and I have to deal with shit and row a boat. Awesome

Last time I took wifey fishing, she stuck a hook right through a bluegill's eyeball and tore it out.

Not only will she bait her own hook, she also does all the fillet work after the catch. She is better at it than I am, so she has her own electric fillet knife and fillet board.
