where did Cup go I was hoping for an explanation as to how Clarkson cant skate with the 1st or 2nd line when 11 of his 16 goals where scored with first and second line players.Or do you still think those goals were scored on the 3rd line

i'm still here relax...that i cant really explain...but what were the situations in the game? was it games where kovalchuk was hurt? was it in plays that the rush started with parise and clarkson benefited off a line change? there are a ton of other situations that can benefit from it.


this is why you can spew all the numbers you want...we dont live in a numbers world...all you have to use are your eyes and you can see that over 82 games IMO clarkson wont be on that top line for all of them.

that doesnt mean im bashing clarkson.....hey i dont get paid to analze anything nor does the team follow my instructions....but im guessing he isnt on the top line for a reason?

You clearly stated Clarksons goals were scored while playing on the 3rd line and he wouldn't be productive on a line with parise,henrique or kovy.I am just pointing out you were wrong and backing that up with facts.I am also not new to this game I have 32 years of experience as A player,coach,spectator and have been a Devils fan since their first game.The stratagies of the game are far from new to me and you have made no solid arguement against balancing our attack.This isnt NHL2K throw all your best players on one line and turn the line changes off.The nhl is deeper than that and different styles from different players change the dynamic of your lines.Players like Clarkson and Zubrus hit the boards and dig the puck out control it and setup the playmakers.Or do you enjoy watching Kovy race up the ice to find no one and turn the puck over shortly after crossing the blue line? You can continue to backpeddle and relying on stats only when they work for you now

Its like argueing with Ecklund but I have enjoyed disproving his self made stats.Other than that cup has used the same tactics since his days of trade Elias for a big name player threads back at the swamp.We have seen how thats worked out.Since aquiring a big name player Elias has done nothing but outperform him.I could make a highlight reel of cups fails throughout the years

Here's the thing your not taking the goals he scored into context. Like the situations I mentioned.....just because he scored some goals with parise getting a helper doesn't mean he deserves first line time. Like I said we aren't experts but the people who get paid to be seem to agree with me. Hey i hope if they do out him out there he scores and we win games. Just dont think he is the best fit for the top line

Oh, but on topic, I'd say not to split up Parise & Kovy yet, although it will happen soon. I think they're alright at the moment.

Nobody is saying Clarkson is as talented as Parise or Henrique. How many times do we see that top line create great chances and nobody in front to bank it in. I am thinking tell Clarkson to go crash the net, let Henrique and Parise do their thing. Stick on the ice and wait for the rebounds, etc.
I have seen teams add a physical player to a top line and it can work. Who knows, maybe DeBoer already tried the combo and it didnt work out.

I don't know who else you would try on that top line if they were to be split up. To me, Zubrus wouldn't fit as well. Unless there is a trade, who on this current line up would you pair if Kovy and Parise got split up?

This is an excellenst assessment of the point I am making.Its not about the who's the best player on the team but the best situation for the team.Its about changing the dynamic of our lines. Getting the physicality in the corners.Having a screen in front of the net for a Kovy or Parise.Having A player in front of the net who is more than capable of banking in a rebound or deflect a puck.And getting some balance where your not just lumping our two best players on one line leaving them vulnerable to be shut down by the other team locking down one line.It would also be interesting if some other posters would post their ideal lines even if they include the kovy parise line i disagree with.I am more than interested to see ideas and opinions floating around.

i was at the game so i didnt get the benefit of seeing everything as clear on tv...but i saw a lot of kovalchuk parise and zubrus i saw henrque out there with sykora and elias. so i dont think the lines were kept at all

The Kovy Henrique Parise line was on the ice for the Buffalo goal lines were changed up later in the game hopefully they build on that and switch things up the right way.I however do not agree with henrique on the third line its Zach and Kovy that should be split.But by all means keep pushing Zach and Kovy its working out so well

Keep Henrique with Kovy and throw Poni with them... Zajac with ZP and Elias... Zubes, Syk and Clarkie, and whoever is playing can stink up the 4th
