Exactly. Their argument would be stronger, if they advocated for less playoff teams.

I support adding two more teams, because it adds more excitement to the regular and postseason.

No, it adds a game to the postseason (zero more excitement), and substantially lowers the amount of quality regular season games as more teams can coast.

That's one of the positives of adding one more teams. It INCREASES the relevance of the regular season. Want a break? Earn it.

The more I think about it, the more I like it.

Want a playoff spot? Earn it.

More teams decreases the relevance of the regular season. There is no amount of twisted logic you can imagine to make it so being able to do worse in the regular season and still makes the playoffs increases the relevancy of the regular season. It simply isn't possible.

The third wild card team never has and never will be worthy of a playoff berth under any circumstances. I don't care if they go 14-0-2 or 15-1 and miss out to a winless 0-14-2 team that won their division. The 0-14-2 team earned it by winning their division, and the undefeated team didn't win their division and is not worthy of a playoff spot. WIN YOUR DIVISION.

Quite untrue. You would see more games at stake, when it came to week 17, and more teams would be willing to give it their 100% or potentially play spoiler. Quality of competition would go up.

i call BS on both points!!!

How is there more teams that can coast... It is very rare to see any team lose for a lower seed, and if the 5th and 6th seed have clinched how is that any different than the current system?? Only the seventh seed can can hypothetically coast, but the odds that they cant improve their seed and cant lose out on the playoffs is very slim... I will take those low odds anyday to allow more teams into the playoff race!!!

and how does an extra game of the playoffs hurt?? If anything it helps!!! More money and 2 more games of football how can that be a bad thing??

Again you are using your hatred to this rule to make invalid points... But nice try!!!

The two seed earned that bye and the seven seed earned a seat on the couch. Watching a team that doesn't deserve to be there get slaughtered by a team that earned a break is not a game all that many people will watch, and for good reason.

It drops off a cliff. Without a bye at stake and with no chance at falling out of the playoffs, the 2, 3, and 4 (and maybe even 5 if they share a division with the likely 2) have no incentive to play after week 14. The only reason teams sell out for the two is the bye. Without it, there are less than half as many watchable games.

And why does the #2 seed deserve a bye?? Just because the current system has them with the bye does not mean they deserve it... And by using your logic, the 2 seed is not even the best team, so how did they earn anything???

And again, once you allow the 2nd WC team, you can use the same logic to add as many WC teams as you want... so at least theres that!!!

Not following this 2 year old logic.

The NFL has 32 teams. Currently 12 of them make it to the playoffs aka 38% of the population. Adding two more teams to the pot, means 44% make it this time around. This means that 56% of NFL teams will not make it into the playoffs.

We're not giving everybody a trophy. 99% of the time, you will have to win at least 8 games in order to qualify for the postseason. That's a tough task for any team to handle, particularly when you have 16 games.

I like the idea of expanding because it increases interest for week 17 and adds more football to the table.

What exactly is the problem? Every year, we see one 8 win team making the playoffs. What's wrong with adding possibly one more to the equation? The only real difference here is that the 2nd seed would no longer get the bye week.

Your logic is the 2 year old logic. One of the things that make the NFL the greatest league in America is the exclusivity of it. When you start over-saturating the market the value invariably declines. No it might now happen overnight, but it will happen, IMO.

So, using your logic, you support a 32 team playoff. Good to know.

I'll stop wasting time with someone who has no desire for quality football now.

Overnight in the sense of the first year it is in place, it absolutely will noticeably decrease the number of quality games.

People != a lot of people. Not that many people watch the jaguars and not that many people will watch a shitty team that doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs get shit stomped.

no i dont support 32 because that would be a major change... that would add another round of the playoffs... And due to that there is logic against it...

I was talking dollars as well but I agree; the quality games would decrease instantaneously. ;)

I got to agree with your post here. One of the things that makes the NFL great is that to make the playoffs, you got to be good, actually very good. Watering it down to the point where weak ass teams can sneak in would suck.

Exactly, Harold. I have no interest in watching 8-8 teams sneak into the playoffs and get massacred like Denver did in the Super Bowl. Lol, ouch.

again good job fixating on one point about one thing!!! i have always said if there is any logical reason against it then i would not want it... I just dont see any logical reason... and i have clearly showed you that your points are invalid, and if you dont want to see it then give a valid reason without using your emotions...

The logical reason is that it waters down the regular season.

And that teams already have three opportunities to make the playoffs.

And that the 2 seed has earned a bye.

And that the number of quality late season games is cut by half, conservatively.

And that that added playoff game will be mediocre 90+ % of the time.

Maybe i am, or maybe my logic is different than others... But I can guarantee on this subject you guys are not talking logically!!! i guarantee it....

I am also terrible at explaining what i mean, so maybe i am just incapable of making others see my points whether i am correct or not...
