I don’t think we need it on tv or live venue after putting things on perspective following the pandemic wave of covid. Please argue yes or no. With reasons. I vote no. Do we need healthcare and essential workers? Yes.

If broadcasters can do it safely, then sure.

It's no different from other televised events, like golf, NASCAR, or the ESPYS.

No fans, though.

Radio is also fine.

Yes, we also need healthcare workers.

No fans is perfect! They disrupt the winning process of the deserving winner sometimes. Players can actually focus on their proper games without having to waste effort on dealing with fan distractions.

Seeing a game live at the stadium gives you a different perspective than watching on TV. Even tennis with only two participants sometimes zeros in on one, while what might be more interesting is watching the other player set up for the return.

Baseball is boring as shit on TV, but the stadium experience so far transcends sitting in a living room. I am a former hockey player, and I get a lot more out of a game watching from the nosebleed seats than from a bar, even full of friendly fans.

Oddly, perhaps, I think pro football is better on TV. You almost need three or four isolated replays to get all subtle things that make one play great and another a failure.

This is a terrible take.

I'm actually not missing fans. Not even a smidgeon.
I quoted wrong one, sorry.

I want my tennis on tv and I do enjoy the occasional live match or tournament.

I miss live baseball games.

So it isn't that I miss the fans in the stands, I just miss being one myself.

And I hate the piped in fake crowd sounds at the games now.

No more live sports for me, unless I get to Montreal for the Canuckistanian F1 GP one year.

Perfectly happy viewing on TV. No expensive snacks, the bar never shuts down, biffy is 30 feet away and empty.

I noticed my tv watching going down as I get older. Even sports.

I watch fewer and fewer sports these days

but I always seek out tennis when there is a grand slam going on

I don't really play tennis but going in person to watch matches at the US Open when I was a teenager was really freaking cool and I would love to go again. Live fans in the stands make pretty much all professional sports better.

I don't need them for hockey or basketball...don't really miss them at all in the NFL, to be honest.

I love the fans at a golf tournament or a tennis match though

and live baseball is the best
