Local talk radio has been saying that an agreement and a 48 game season are a given...I'm still undecided... I wouldn't be suprised either way.

IMO there is no credible information to support that. i still believe there will be no season

the NHL wants to take all the uncertainty out of making the money and in a twisted way, the NHL BOG probably thinks they can grow the game in markets that are struggling by letting the teams in those markets become more competitive

ie the Canucks as an example ... 60 mill cap next year ... teams will have to shed salary ... some teams will lose pending free agents because they wont have the cap room (ie Alex Edler)

Edler and others like him caught in this salary purge might go to a lesser hockey market and make that team better ... Bettmans wet dream continues ... PARITY!!! ... now he can call off the dogs (his referees) that perpetuate the sham on our game that is "game management"

in the end, the Canucks might not end up being a playoff team anymore in a couple of years but Francesco Aquilini wont miss the playoff gate because theyve skimmed about 10 mill off the top already in decreased player salary costs so does he really care anymore about winning?

owner thought bubble ... "almost guaranteed profit through salary cost savings versus maybe increasing playoff gate revenue if my team makes the playoffs" ... lazy business!!!

and the fans in high spending higher revenue bigger market cities are the ones who truly end up losing because those franchises that they cheer for are the ones who are gonna take a hit in the first couple of years as the "wealth" (as in player assets) gets redistributed around the league to other teams (assuming the owners in the traditional non-hockey markets end up spending the money to acquire those players ... which isnt a given)

they are kicking the fans in the high revenue teams cities right square in the nuts because they know they can ... we always come back right???

i say dont go back ... just dont ... dont give them your money

I disagree. I think that if the players voted today to take the deal on the table or there is no hockey, the players would take the deal. The issue is that this deal still has a couple of days left before it is all or nothing. The PA will try to get a little more( softer towels in the visiting dessing rooms) and wont vote until it is almost too late. Final week, no sense in caving early now. But no sense in cancelling when they are this close wont happen either

Well, they put a competitive team in Denver right off the hop and that team won two Stanley Cups in their first six seasons and now their attendance has dropped to being in the bottom 1/3 of the league. I would say Denver is more of a football town than a hockey town, but maybe with having all four professional sports teams and with a struggling economy, people are faced with tough choices (only so many dollars can be allocated to entertainment).

i think if the players had voted a month ago they wouldve accepted the deal.. fehr might have their undivided support when he's in charge, but if they actually went to a vote, and had a once and for all, end the lockout now, ability, i think they would have.. but fehr tells them not to go to a vote

i have faith in fehr to piss off the owners so much that they refuse to deal. it really has very little to do with the actual players.

To be fair the NHL says they highlighted and flagged that change a week ago and the PA didnt complain at that time. When the PA said something they changed it back. The NHL wasnt changing HRR. They were changing what would happen if a team misreported HRR and how much of an "error" they could make before the PA could claim damages.
Still a sneaky move but not changing the definition of HRR.
IMO Fehr knew it was there but didnt highlight it to the players. Since Fehr still thinks a better deal can be made if they wait a week he used this as a way to keep the players together against the evil owners.
