u know its bad when guys who have been integral in negotiations for the nhlpa start signing in europe

Swiss village club Ambri-Piotta announce signing of Canucks' G Corey Schneider, a USA-SUI dual citizen. He may play already this weekend.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: FYI that Cory Schneider's agent Mike Liut says his client's contract with Ambri Piotta in Swiss goes through December

I've also heard that 48 game schedules have been drawn up for play starting in January 2013. No inter-conference play.

The Devils did pretty well with that system last time.

If the NHL locks out another year I will not support this league anymore. That would be rediculous, and painting "Thank you fans" on the blue lines sure as shit won't make up for it.

lol, couldn't agree more.

All signs are pointing to a lockout... the NHLPA bringing in Fehr, all the buzz around the BOG, it doesn't look good. That said, two lockouts in seven years, three lockouts in eighteen? All under one commish... there's no fucking way the league lets this happen. If they do, they have lost their freaking minds. They WILL lose casual fans, and a lot of people with good access to AHL, NCAA, and OHL hockey will leave and never come back. Fuck you Bettman for even letting us talk about it. I will slap the rest of your head bald with my cock if we miss one game of NHL hockey.

I knew as soon as Fehr was hired that all hope was lost. We already have one egotistical buffoon representing the owners.....add in a second egotistical buffoon and the negotiating process doesn't usually get better.....in essence, my math teacher was wrong, two negatives don't make a positive.

Unfortunately when the billionaires go to war with the millionaires, it's the fans that suffer.

True that.

lol, Eddie, you were on a roll!

Considering the circumstances, the media has been very quiet about this.

You been watching ESPN Nasty??? :heh:

Some posts that I liked from the first 3 pages of this thread.

Leafs first NHL team to be valued at $1 billion (at least according to Forbes)

NHL Team Values 2012: Toronto Maple Leafs Are First Hockey Team Worth $1 Billion - Forbes

There is also an incredible bifurcation of cash flow. Overall operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) almost doubled during the 2011-12 season, to $250 million. But the sport’s three most profitable teams–Maple Leafs ($81.9 million), Rangers ($74 million), Canadians ($51.6 million)–accounted for 83% of the league’s income, while 13 of 30 teams lost money, before non-cash expenses and interest payments.

/Flames come in 12th place at $245 million.

So the difference in value between the Leafs and the Rangers (#2 in value) is more than 2/3 of the NHL squads are individually valued at in the first place? :eek2:

... Wow.

If we accept the Forbes premise that 13 out of 30 teams are losing money, you also have to look at how much NHL franchise values have risen in recent years (aside from the bottom feeders). Thus, owners who may be struggling year-to-year to stay in the black reap pretty nice returns when they decide to sell their stake in the team.

Just read the article on Jacobs...it's what was being hinted at from the beginning. It was guys like Jacobs and Snider that were controlling everything. Combine that information with the amount of control Bettman is allowed to have (only needs 8 votes to move forward) and the fact that Bettman is essentially an owner, and you have a mess. I don't understand why it's okay that the commish of a league is owning a team in this moment. Talk about influencing your decisions.
