What's going to help the Pats is a shitty QB class in this year's draft.

The problem with bringing on Jimmy even if you have assessed that he's better than anything in the draft is the fact that he's one year away from coming off his rookie deal.

Pats probably want a high 2nd and maybe a 4th or 5th. Otherwise, they might as well hang on to him given that they have a 40 year old stiff at QB next year.

Vote and discuss

I voted no, but it largely depends on what happens before 12 and what CLE thinks of a kids like Kaaya or Mahomes.

If Watson, Kizer, and Tribuksly are all off the board (doubtful) they should be going with Lattimore, or Ramczyk with that 12th pick. For QB, I would certainly consider moving #33 for JG.

They most likely could stay put (#33) and get (Kaaya or Mahomes) or if they really wanted one of them, they could trade back into the 20s and sacrifice #33 and #65.

Using #12 and putting Jimmy G. behind that OL is not going to yield much better results than what they've been getting.

I don't see another QB needy team that can risk 1st rd pick....if I'm BB, I would jump at 33...32,33, 64 is not bad.

Sad thing is Jimmy G is a very good prospect/QB. he has a faster release then even brady and he is fearless too. Guys like Mazz want to keep him, and for good reason.

the question is ....is Jacoby really a good prospect to replace Brady in 3 years?

Yeah, I think so. Given the lack of top tier QB's in this draft. Got to think the Bears, 49ers or Browns offer up a 1st round pick for Jimmy.

He's shown promise, and he's probably better than any of the top QBs in this draft, but Jimmy is not top tier either...SF, CHI, CLE...none of them are in the playoffs next year with Jimmy G, maybe not even the year after that.

The qb class is shitty but there could be a few intriguing options in fa. Romo, Cutler, Kaepernick, Tyrod, Fitzmagic just to name a few. I wonder if a team would rather gamble on Romo/Cutler instead of giving up their future top picks for Jimmy. And than there is the cousins situation. Does that impact where Jimmy gets traded if a deal doesn't get done a Washington looks to trade.

i see the same in jimmy, and believe he is going to be a probowler the pats will look back on with regret.

jacoby can play. parcells was adamant belichick draft him, and parcells knows QB's. he chose bledsoe over mirer, and found tony romo. he was high on prescott.
if bill says the kid can play, he can play.

i was impressed with jacobys fearlessness in a very limited playbook, on basically no practice. i liked his presence in the huddle, and he looked good in the pocket. the TD he ran for was nice too. hes also tough, playing thru that thumb.

There are some things definitely working in the Patriots favor and others that make it hard to see how they get a 1st round pick.

In their favor is obviously a very weak QB class. Plenty have said that if Jimmy G was in this draft he would be the #1 overall pick. So if you are going to use a 1st round pick on a QB then I would probably rather go with the one I Felt like would have the better career.

Working against them though is that those other QB's are at least cost controlled for 5 years making it much easier to function cap wise. Jimmy G has the one year then you have to make a decision on him. So a team could give up a 1st round pick for him and then see he is a bust and watch him walk out the door. That is huge risk for any coach out there because if you are wrong on Jimmy G this next year might be your last. At least with a rookie they usually try to give you 3 years to develop the kid.

I would say they will get a 2nd and another mid-round pick.

Do the Patriots get at least a first round pick for Jimmy? It's a QB poor draft in a league that's desperate for QB talent. Does someone hand over at least a first round pick for the former 2nd rounder?
What has he done to think the Patriots will get a first round pick for him?

In 2011 the Eagles had a deal worked out with the Cardinals. It was Kevin Kolb for the 5th pick in round one. The Eagles were after Julio Jones. Unfortunately the strike negated teams ability to do trades and the deal couldnt get finalized.

#5 in round one for Kevin Kolb... yeah, the Patriots can get a #1 for Garrapalo

They could get a 1st rounder for him but I don't see it happening

Then again I heard on weei the other day a theory that the Patriots might be a little upset with Jimmy G for not returning after getting hurt, unlike Brissett so if they possibly get a 1st rounder or even 2nd rounder they pull the trigger
