Plenty of money for last minute free agents because we can easily cut some figurative fat.

This is how you build a team. Don't play the big money overrated player game on day one and two. If a Norman shows up, an elite player, you can pay him a fair contract. If a Galette shows up because of some silly circumstance then you can get a bargain. Then you can sign some cheap role players that may workout such as Reyes and see if your coaches can get their potential. Then you go into the draft and get the best players you can. Any perceived holes after that you fill with leftover free agents.
