1895 0-1OSU went 1-7-1 back in 1897. I think that was the worst record we've had

Ohio state.. Florida's was 1979 I was 10 that is when people got pissed off and the alumni started pushing for better coaches facilities etc.. my uncle played 2 sports at Florida and part of the Bull Gators club that got the school turned in the right directionTalking OSU or Florida?
Put yer dick away, jr
I hate using the refs as an excuse but yes that was a BS call. The real problems started way before the 0-12 season.
I'll have to look that up... Wikipedia didn't show thatOhio state.. Florida's was 1979 I was 10 that is when people got pissed off and the alumni started pushing for better coaches facilities etc.. my uncle played 2 sports at Florida and part of the Bull Gators club that got the school turned in the right direction
Ah yes, the days of Ears Whitworth.Alabama lost their opening game in 1955, to Rice, 20-0. They lost to Vanderbilt a week later and TCU the week after. They went 0-10, had four scoreless games, never lost by fewer than 15 points and scored 16 total points in four home games. It remains the only winless season in program history.
I would beg to differ..
John Heisman, Alonzo Stagg, and Pop Warner also made great contributions to the formative years of CFB. But no one lists Georgia Tech, Pacific, or Stanford among blue bloods. You need more than a great coach to get that.Neyland's maxims are the essence of college football. Every coach worth being employed can and will quote them as keys to victory. Even Lucifer's Vessel, Nick Saban has cited Neyland's maxims as key to Alabama's victories more than once.
Tennessee's football program has quite a history. There have been other greatly successful coaches of the Volunteers, but Neyland's impact upon CFB and his enduring legacy place UT in rarefied air. There is no list of great CFB programs without Tennessee.
Yeah, everything I've seen says 4-4-1 for 1895

In the 1800's they went 1-7-1 one season, apparently.
