Everyone weights things differently, so I could see how they left michigan off... They really haven't won anything since OSU started winning... Which was a long time ago. michigan does still (temporarily) have the most wins, though.

Hey, I get it, you are supposed to hate everything Michigan football.

They claim 11 National Titles, 42 Conference Championships and are part of arguably the biggest rivalry in all of college football.

Michigan is relevant. They register on the meter of college football. People hate them and want to beat the winningest team in all of college football history.

971 wins has to be respected.

When Michigan plays Washington this season it will be a battle between two blue bloods. When Ohio St. plays Oregon .. not so much.

OSU went 1-7-1 back in 1897. I think that was the worst record we've had

Every top team has had a bad mark here and there. Huskies 0-12 season was due too piss poor recruiting and scheduling OOC power house teams they had no business playing at that time.

The refs fvcked UW bigly. They cost UW the game with that bs celebrating call.

I hate using the refs as an excuse but yes that was a BS call. The real problems started way before the 0-12 season.

We had a no win season in 1979.. then things changed. Every single team has had a few down years.. even those top ranked blue bloods..the difference is blue bloods eventually rebound and tend to be competitive year in and year out..

I think the mark comes at the top 10, but that's my opinion. The top tens are the true blue bloods. This isn't to make fun or point fingers and say that Florida isn't a solid program, they are, but I honestly don't think many consider them a 'blue blood' program. The largest drop between any adjacent team in the OPs post is 11% between Ohio St and Oklahoma, both of whom I don't think people would exclude from a real list of blue bloods. No other percent is greater than 5% among the most recognized blue bloods. Then there is a steep 19% drop off from Nebraska to Penn St... that is significant in my opinion and marks the real turning point of blue blood status. So while I think the mark should be top ten, it very easily could be argued top 8.

I disagree with the OPs order after the top 5, but that is a different conversation. In my opinion the 6-10 should look like this (call me biased, but I believe I can back it up)

6. Nebraska
7. Michigan
8. Texas
9. Penn St
10. Florida St

For those curious, I would have Tennessee at 11th.

But it pays to keep this list in perspective. Obviously numbers will fluctuate based on how teams are currently doing. I think most would agree that seeing Nebraska at a 65% in the 90's would be considered ridiculous and prior to Bamas most recent success (since 09), they might not even be #1.

But that steep drop off of nearly 20% difference shows (in my opinion) the true blue bloods from the contenders.

Definitely can change though. If Nebraska can't get their shit together and continue to have terrible seasons over the next 20 years as well, I could see teams like Penn St or FSU taking that spot.

SO GET IT TOGETHER FROST!!!

No, blue bloods have down times but they do not go winless in any year.

Hell, f'n Ole miss is more of a blue blood than Washington. So are Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Florida St, Nebraska, Iowa...

My football 4 blue bloods are:

Notre Dame
Alabama
Oklahoma
USC

Next in line: (In no particular order)

Ohio St
Nebraska
Texas
Tennessee
Miami
Florida St
Florida
LSU
Georgia
Michigan
Penn St

Having USC in the top 4 and not Ohio St

There's a few top programs that had winless seasons way back in the day.

Not Nebraska lol. Worst season was 1957, went 1-9.

No, blue bloods have down times but they do not go winless in any year.
Alabama lost their opening game in 1955, to Rice, 20-0. They lost to Vanderbilt a week later and TCU the week after. They went 0-10, had four scoreless games, never lost by fewer than 15 points and scored 16 total points in four home games. It remains the only winless season in program history.

I would beg to differ..

I've been a blood donor longer than most Hooplans have been alive. My blood is standard red, thank you. Being a donor puts me in rare company. Less than half of the population is eligible to give blood.

So, whippersnappers, get off your lazy duffs and find out if you're eligible. If you are, donate. That's the lesson for today. Now, go on, do as you've been bidden.
