Our Qb is horrible. Our offensive line looked awful. Today is Aug 12th. Alex Smith couldn't practice until Aug 4th. His qb rating was 39.6, the same exact as Brees. Not saying he's anything like him but they both do have something in common. They are all rusty as hell. Braylon didn't practice with the team until a week ago. And jeez, give the line a break. They more then any group need time to gel. You can't count those padless 4 on 4 high school meet ups they had as real practices. All teams are gonna have these problems. In fact, the only thing that bothered me was the Saints d play calling, c'mon it's not the superbowl. That's how people get hurt, especially when they've been sitting around for two months. Either way, calm the hell down. You don't see Saints fans demanding new lineman or QBs, cause they werent exactly stellar lol.

The thing about the starting OL is that they seem to be the same or worse than they were last season. Making the same mistakes and getting abused on each play. I could see the argument that they needed time to gel if there were a lot of new faces on the line. But all five players have played together for a whole season (with the exception of Snyder playing in a new poition). I can give them a pass for a few mistakes with it being the first game after the layoff but they were downright atrocious!

Thing is Alex Smith's QB rating in November will still be 39.6. Brees' will be between 85 and 100.

I take it you're a glass half empty kinda guy huh lol. I understand, I cant wait for the day the guy is off the team but for people to think this today's performance even meant half of what a normal preseason game means is just crazy.

Yes, they have almost the same O Line as last year but not the same blocking scheme due to a different offense. It's not something that they can pick up with a dozen practices.

You are right, Brees will have a better rating. It Doesn't take much brain power to see that.

Still, it doesn't change the fact that the team obviously needs more time and reps to bring everything together.

I completely disagree with Bracus on Saint's play calling though. I'm glad they did it, it exposed things we can work on fixing before the start of the season.

This game turned out right about as could be expected. We'll see where we are in about two weeks. I wouldn't mind getting blown out in every pre-season game as long as we can get the element of surprise for the first few weeks of the regular season.
