Would have been interesting seeing Troy Polamalu vs. the Tush Push. Fun matchup.

The gist I'm getting is that to stop the tush push you need an Edge that can match the Eagles LT, a DT that can match Dickerson and then another DT that holds the middle.

Maybe just line up 4 DTs? I got nothing

I think it is reasonable to be concerned about the safety of the tush push play, but so far, there is zero evidence that it leads to injuries. The sample size is too small and there are no examples to date.

I dont really see anything to suggest injuries are the issue, either.

How many times has the tush push been stopped when the Eagles LT has been in the game? If its a play thats too successful then it'll just get boring. That would be the issue imo.

Neither the Bucs nor the Rams were built to last with their Super Bowl wins. You guys are set to run the NFC for the next 3 to 5 years.

I think the key players on the tush push, at least Philly's rendition, are the center and left guard. Hurts tends to run it to the left behind Landon Dickerson, which is understandable because Dickerson is a very powerful drive blocker who gets huge surge off the line.

Those are big dreams and that would be great but winning is hard. A few issues and they’re the Bucs or Rams. Eagles fans thought this was the Way with Wentz 2017 season prior to injury.

I hope they ban it at this point for just the reason you said. Wins and championships are great but forever is a story for my grandkids someday that your Philadelphia Eagles perfected a play to such a great extent the National Football League had to ban it. That shit is legend. That shit is forever

Eagles were an older team IIRC after their last SB win. You guys have a really young D and its maybe the best in the league.

Even if the play gets banned, Sneak and QB scramble will still win games. Chiefs changed the league with so many 2 high shells. I think defenses probably need some more fundamental adjustments to the Eagles, Ravens and Bills. Chiefs offense has been grounded.

Also, the '17 Eagles were a bit of a fluke. They were 7-9 the season prior and didn't look the least bit like Super Bowl contenders, which is probably why they came crashing back to Earth over the next few years.

This team had been in the playoffs the previous three years and to a Super Bowl two years earlier.

Eagles did have to rebuild their defense which is why I wasnt high on them entering the season. I thought the Eagles would have one of the best offenses and one of the worst defenses. Turns out, you can turn around any unit if you nail 4 or 5 draft picks and a couple of FA moves.

Winning a Super Bowl with Nick Foles (or Carson Went) is absolutely a 1 in a million kind of thing. I saw plenty of Nick Foles on the Rams and Chiefs. Thats not a guy you should expect to win the biggest games.

Foles was good enough for catching lightning in a bottle for short periods of time. In this case, it lasted about a full month. In 2013, it was for 3/4s of a season (he didn't start the first month).

Foles had one of the weirder careers you will ever see, but he had 26 TDs and 2 Ints one year. When he was hot, he was very good, but he was very hot and cold in his career, and I think honestly he was a guy who would lose confidence in himself and struggle.

He threw 55 TDs and 45 Ints for the rest of his career outside that one year. I always figured that Chip Kelly was the reason for that year.

Foles coming out of college his one issue IIRC was that if he got pressured then he folded. I think there was a bowl game where Suh just shut down Foles by himself. It would make sense that he would do well on the Eagles and poorly on teams like the STL Rams, Jaguars, and Bears because their olines generally were never all that good IIRC.

nfl rules stop defensive players from doing exactly what this play allows offense to do. So it should be banned or allow defense to do the same

I wouldnt mind seeing an exhibition game where defensive players can pick up offensive players, run the other direction, and get Safetys. I think that would be fun.

I for one am getting a lot of amusement already out of the NFL immediately introducing electronic 1st downs after a failed tush-like push.
