When all else fails, Smack em' in the Mouth!
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys and contract-year WR Dez Bryant have made some progress on a long-term deal, but it's "up in the air" if it'll get done before the season.
After locking up LT Tyron Smith, the Cowboys have turned all of their attention to Bryant. Unfortunately for Jerry Jones, there's little flexibility under the salary cap. And with Bryant already an extreme bargain at $1.78 million, not much room can be created under the cap. Bryant has stated numerous times that he's not worried about his contract. He knows he's elite and will be paid like it by someone. If a long-term deal can't be reached, the franchise tag is an option.
