Watched my first game of the season last night, been out of the country and busy otherwise...not to mention I don't have much hope for this team this season. Definitely weak on the bats, but I think the most frustrating part was in the 8th (I think), 2 outs, man on second, Miggy hits a ground ball slowly to deep second. It looks like an infield single that even VMart could run out, but Miggy gets thrown out by a step as he's jogging to first.

I get that you don't need him running out every ball, but come on! He didn't even even need to run hard to make it comfortably.

Today, the Tigers are losing 2-1 and 1-0 games.

When the weather warms up, they'll be losing 10-8 and 9-7 games.

I'm figuring....on shear luck along...that ONE out of Liriano, Boyd, Fiers, Norris, or Zimmermann, will have a good year. Well...maybe not Zimmermann. Not talking Cy Young stuff here, just a season that sees their ERA get under 4.00 and they get 10-11 wins. If it is Liriano, he could bring a decent prospect at the trade deadline, ditto with Mike Fiers.
I'd hate to see Fulmer traded....but if some of the ''closer'' prospects suck this summer, he might be needed to prop up the system.

I saw some talk in baseball blogs about changing Daniel Norris permanently to relief...and they were talking late inning stuff, not long relief. Interesting in that the Tigers have really no starting depth beyond Norris. Hopefully Beau Burrows can be ready by late summer...otherwise it is Artie Lewicki, Chad Bell, Saupold and who knows what?

June isn't far away and that will bring the highlight of the 2018 season for the Tigers...the #1 overall pick in the draft. According to MLB Trade Rumors (via Fangraphs)....
"Auburn right-hander Casey Mize is favored to come off the board first overall at the moment, but the Tigers are also looking at Jarred Kelenic — a high school outfielder out of Waukesha, Wis., as a possibility with the top pick."

Although I have heard that Detroit scouts are trying to find their former #1 pick, Matt Anderson, and see if he is interested in getting back in the game. My fingers are crossed that Avila Sr has no more baseball playing children.
