Right now, signing looks good. Last June it looked bad. I'm guessing that it may look bad again come 2020 and 2021.

Just wondering. If the Tigers do trade Verlander (now or this winter) and Upton opts out of contract....would the decreased salary make it easier for them to just "eat" VMart's last year of his contract? If you are rebuilding, there is no need to plug up your DH spot with a .250 hitter with no power. (Cabrera appears to be filling that role)

Question: If the Yankees or Dodgers hinted that they would even get close to matching the $88mil Detroit owes him for the next four years......how fast could Justin Upton pack his bags and leave Detroit?

Right now, signing looks good. Last June it looked bad. I'm guessing that it may look bad again come 2020 and 2021.

Upton is having a remarkably consistent season -- only one down month (.217 in May), otherwise he hasn't hit below .290 in any month. History suggests this is an aberration. He's usually very streaky.

If he gets to 35 bombs and 110+ RBI, he'll get some offers that are close, if not more. Bur I'd think Upton would be willing to take the same salary or even a bit less to go to a contender. He has to see the writing on the wall -- that the Tigers will not be very good for at least the next couple of seasons.

Met up with a buddy to watch the game at BWW last night. They didn't have the game on right away and when they did finally flip it on, we were down 2-0 already with runners at 2nd and 3rd....was like, yep, game over already lol.

This pitching staff is so inept, you gotta just laugh at it to keep your sanity. Dubee is no help at all, but I'm sure he's not coaching guys like Boyd to fall behind every damn hitter and get himself in hitter's counts all night.

Tigers will be going no place with or without Justin Verlander. So......

Plan #1. Right now. Eat some (a lot?) of JV's salary, and trade him to Houston for their two best pitching prospects.

Plan #2. Wait until off season and do the same thing to any team.

Plan #3. Buy Upton a nice parting gift.

Plan #4. No parting gift for VMart. Give him his check for $18mil and show him the door. (Provide a golf cart so he can reach the door in less than two hours)

Plan #5. Trade Iglesias for pitching. Admit Vice was correct...Dixon Machado is the starting SS (sadly)

Plan #6. Castellanos to RF. Move his locker closer to EXIT door.

Plan #7. Trade Boyd, VerHagen and Farmer to Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for CTBN (cactii to be named)

Plan #8. Keep Kinsler....he needs the cash, man!

Plan #9. Find a real rare and cool sounding injury (or disease) for Miggy to be used as excuse for next year's 0.2 WAR. Like - 'Longitudinal Core Stress Syndrome'. Or 'Venezuelan Dehydrated Liver Disease'
