Tigers need to make a tough decision. Do they want to try to compete over the next couple of seasons...or do they want to bring in some good young prospects and hope that a few develop into good (or better) regular players? They have some players that MIGHT let them do the former. Cabrera, VMart and the rest of the aging BIG 5 will probably be around next year. That is a core of players who MIGHT generate wins if they visit past days. Yet, is that enough, along with add-ons here and there to compete? That is what the front office has got to decide. At best, they might contend next year, at worst, they remain what they are and only delay the inevitable total tear down.

If the Braves offer up three of their prospects that are listed in the top 50 prospects....I'd have to think about trading Fulmer. But trading Fulmer has to be part of a bigger plan. Detroit would need to REALLY try and trade Verlander. They would be willing to eat 90%+ of VMart's contract to get rid of him. JaCoby Jones is sold to the Scared Straight Program. Bruce Rondon is released to sign a contract with Marie Osmond to hawk weight loss meals. They get Gene Lamont a job in Vegas managing the buffet meals at a casino.

I don't assume Avila has seen them play any more than I have tbh. But he'd lie and say he has. Like the Cubs prospects he's watched "for years". Yeah right...

Besides supplying HRs, JD Martinez isn't doing all that well for Arizona. Hitting .214 and striking out about once every 3 ABs. He's costing himself some cash in the FA market....but not much, I'd guess.

We've got a regular ol American who will be Manning right field starting prolly a month from now.

Christin Stewart will make Upton look like Kaline in the field once he's here.

If Detroit decides to go ''all out'' to rebuild....trading Fulmer isn't a bad idea. But if Upton sticks around, and they decide to keep Verlander and not dump VMart, they aren't rebuilding...they are just trying to keep a pretty front window and fiddle around in the backroom and ''claim'' they are working at ''something''.

Kinsler probably has one of the friendliest contracts due to his elite defense. I think they should keep him the next couple of years since we have no one on the farm that can play 2nd base as well as him. Alteast no one that's near ready to come up and Machado is just a utility player.

Trade the guy....he is busting his gut to look good. He wants out. Work something out with the Dodgers or the Cubs.
