JV seriously hit 101 on the gun!?!
Yeah he did but it was the pitch that got away from him and hit Caleb Joseph, but the umps called it a strikeout.JV seriously hit 101 on the gun!?!
Just a thought. It has been reported that Atlanta is still very interested in acquiring Fulmer. Perhaps in an off season trade. Baseball America ranks the Atlanta minor league system as #1 in baseball and list NINE of their prospects in the top 100, FIVE in the top 25.
Possible courses of actions for Detroit:
1. Have the NEW GM attempt to r*pe Atlanta of three top 100 prospect....two from the top 25
2. See if Atlanta would consider a package deal with Zimmermann...Tigers take lower prospects.
3. Keep Fulmer, and keep fingers crossed Manning and Burrows develop in 2-3 years.

I'm leery of dealing Fulmer. I get the thought, load up on more top end prospects or unload Zim's contract, but he's under team control for a number of years. He also appears to be a legit 1/2 starter. There's a good chance none of those prospects come close to that. And after next season, a lot of money is coming off the books. Deal with Zim's shitty contract.
I get that (I expect 4-5 years of non playoff baseball, at the minimum), and I understand the appeal of making a move for a pile of prospects. In this instance, I'm more in favor one in the hand than two in the bush.#1 sounds ideal, but I don't think Avila is shrewd enough to pull it off.
The Tigers are going to be a losing team over the next few years, with or without Fulmer.
How did it work out last time we sent a top pitcher to the Braves?
We won the division and lost the AL Pennant to the Twins (1987). The "top pitcher" we sent to the Braves had a Hall of Fame Career.
Then we wanted to forget the next 15 years...We won the division and lost the AL Pennant to the Twins (1987). The "top pitcher" we sent to the Braves had a Hall of Fame Career.
Jair Jurjens flamed out quick. LolHow did it work out last time we sent a top pitcher to the Braves?
You are so funny Iffy.....it was a joke....LOL! How people do change historical facts. TOP PITCHER!!
John Smoltz was pitching at AA for Detroit in 1987. He was 4-10 with a 5.68 ERA. Yes, he was a TOP PITCHER!.
BTW...Smoltz was a 22nd round draft pick in 1985.
