No spot for Moya unless you bench Upton. He can't play centerfield. VMart is a switchhitter at DH. JD isn't going to miss many games. Let him stay at Toledo, build up some good numbers and maybe he can help swing a mid-summer trade.

I agree. No value in bringing up Moya just so he can sit on the bench as much as Collins is doing. Bernard has more value if Collins gets sent down. Even though he's a pretty weak hitter, Bernard can play CF and be used as a pinch runner. It's too bad Maybin got plunked on the wrist again, because he'd probably be up already.

Totally embarrassed by fellow flunky, Miguel Cabrera's double and homeruns, Justin Upton felt it behooved him to make a concession to the fans and his fat paycheck and contribute a single to tonight's contest.

I know you were trying to be cute and funny, but to ever refer to Miguel Cabrera as a "flunky", even during a bad slump, is just wrong. Very wrong.

They are hoping Maybin is backk the first week of May. Of course his results in Toledo might hold him back....if he is still rusty. Remember, he had no spring training time.

As for Cabrera....I don't know what makes that guy tick. Looks like some weak hitting Dominican shortstop for two weeks. One night he pops up weekly with the bases loaded in a key situation....the next night, 4 hits including 2 homers and a double. What will he do today? Does he just lose focus for awhile? Outside stuff takes his mind of baseball - and then he snaps back? Ordinary people do that, so I guess he could too. (Except...he makes 8 zillion dollars per game.....so......)

He has had 10-for-50 slumps several times, I'm sure. This one stands out more because it's at the start of a season. Whatever "makes him tick", he has the highest lifetime BA (.321) of anyone currently playing. So the slumps must be few and far between.

I'm serious about Iggy in the two hole. Excellent contact. Which is all I'm really concerned with out of that slot in the lineup.

Infield singles would be secondary to just putting it in play there.

Some of the Tigers having problems with Hill's slow benders. KRod should be watching. Hill's fastball is topping out around 89....but his off speed stuff is a about 10mph slower or more. A 75 mph curveball makes an 89mph fastball look like 95mph.

Now....game broadcast says they have announced NO suspension for Collins!!!! First announcement said there would be. Kind of strange....considering Papelbon's suspension last year. Maybe Collin's isn't worth a suspension? Now that's a slap in the face. I guess he will face a league fine.

Maybe recalling Moya wouldn't be such a bad idea. Might push Upton, JD, and VMart a little. Have Moya rotate through LF, RF, and DH...even have him replace Cabrera (VMart to 1B?/Moya DH) for a game. Give Moya sort of a 4-5 game audition. As for covering CF....couldn't Aviles or Romine back Gose up for a week?

The thought of either of those two roaming the outfield, especially CF, makes me cringe.

Also tough when you have walked 12 while striking out nine.

If we get three or more off Sonny I'll chalk Pelfreys run support up to coincidence.

I am kind of liking the idea of bringing Moya up right now. Before Maybin returns. (kudos for whoever suggested it first). Let him rotate through the order for a week - or at least until Maybin is ready to return. So what if Upton sits a few games? Give JD a day off, VMart and Miggy too. Yes...that means Gose is in CF every game and Aviles or Romine is his backup. (Upton has played a few games in CF). When Maybin returns, keep Moya or send him back, or dump Gose.....if Moya shows anything, he at least gives the team options.

Not making excuses but some guys have bad luck...

Pelfrey has taken the mound for the Tigers four times this season. The Tigers have scored zero runs during his time in the game all four times. They have been outscored 16-0 while he is on the mound and 18-5 in his starts.

Pelfrey has not pitched well since joining the Tigers this offseason. But the offense has failed him. The contrast in the Tigers' offensive numbers with and without Pelfrey starting are stark:

* Non-Pelfrey starts: 9.6

Walks per game
* Pelfrey starts: 1.5
* Non-Pelfrey starts: 2.7
